Dear Jason,
We are looking forward to your visit on the 4th of November. We will be very glad to see you.
We are glad that Cat can see her brother while you are seeing us. Please ensure that you pick her up after you visit us. We are not ready for her to visit here. That will take some time yet as you mentioned on the phone during one of our conversations. We will take it very slowly.
Please let us know on Friday night about what time you will get here on Saturday or Sunday and about how long you will be visiting.
Again, we are looking forward to your visit.
Love,
Mom and Dad
I remember this visit. Catherine was at the Atlanta Rowing Regatta for a couple hours while I went home, hoping to calm the rough waters of the past. We played Scattergories and talked about many things, but they did not discuss Catherine until it was time for me to take my leave. This was the first time I had been in the house since the episode with the cops in April 1999. The visit reaffirmed the same old stuff: please don't marry her, you won't be happy, don't our feelings matter, etc. The worst proclamation was then announced: we will never like her, even when we are in the nursing home. We don't want to see her get hit by a truck, we know it would upset you, etc. Very sad, this is the person I am going to marry and it was still the choose us or her game. Well, I suck at playing games! I know someone who is a Level 7 Dungeon Master, and he wouldn't even put up with this stuff. So, I ignored it all and hoped it would go away over time. Dee-dee-dee.
This was the sadest part of my life, until 9-11 the following year.
I guess I was asking too much for us to all get along.
