The Ballad of O

The Ballad of O.J. Simpson

Demo version recorded in Feb. 1995,

written during the weeks of the trial in 1994,

first released on The Things We Will Never Know EP in 1997

OJ Simpson, what if you were white?

OJ Simpson, would there be delight?

OJ Simpson, did you kill Nicole?

OJ Simpson, thats how the story goes

OJ Simpson, on the witness stand

those gloves fit your hand

OJ Simpson, I just don't want to hear it

guilty but you won't admit it

they all think that you were framed

I think it is such a shame

everyone seems so brainwashed

can the media count the cost?

OJ Simpson, if they would match the hair

OJ Simpson, they'll know that you were there

OJ Simpson, you didn't go to Chicago

when your alibi is full of lies

Lets remember, Mark Furghman ain't on trial

come one people, make me smile

and convict OJ, because he is the one

guilty son of a gun

behind your suit, the smile of a killer

there's so much proof but you're gonna walk

until the truth comes out in the end

that you did it, and you know

solo

Michael Jackson, and those little kids

Michael Jackson, its so obvious

Jeffrey Doehmer, did they go to waste?

Jeffrey Doehmer, how did they taste?

so what is the point of this song?

they all got away with it, and its wrong

and so will OJ, thats all I have to say

Note:

I wrote this long before the verdict was given. No, I am not racist. I am concerned though, this stupid fascination with trials like this shows the entire planet that the USA somehow glorifies wife-beating alcoholics, and that is nothing to be proud off.

With his recent book scandal, this song has relevance again (How I would Have Done It if I did Do It), seems guilty to me. After all this time, our culture still glorifies eccentric and unacceptable behavior from celebrities (Paris Hilton, Britney, Lohan, MJ, Anna Nicole, etc...)
