Dear Amy's

My name is Clara*, and I am a vegan. I enjoy your Amy's Kitchen products that do not contain animal derivatives.

I have two cousins, Laura* and Kirstie* that are vegetarian, and they say your No Cheese Pizza is really good. I was interested in trying it, until I read the ingredients and found it contains an animal derivative: honey.

There are many other vegans who refrain from purchasing Amy's Organic No Cheese Pizza because it contains honey. I liked the idea of a cheeseless pizza so much that I made some from scratch at home. However, that takes a lot of time, and it would be much more convenient, especially for those vegans who go to college, or have a tight schedule that leaves little or no time to cook. There are also a few other items that are otherwise vegan, except for the honey. Some of those include your Nondairy Vegetable Pot Pie, and the Veggie Loaf. I am suggesting that you change the ingredients so that honey is not included in the recipe. It could easily be replaced by rice syrup, or molasses. Or it could just be omitted from the recipe completely, as many of those who have signed this petition would not like a sweetener in their pizza crust. I feel that this will greatly increase your business, as do all of the vegans that have signed my petition. Furthermore, I will personally contact everyone who signed my petition, and as many vegans as I can reach, to tell them that Amy's NonDairy items are now vegan.

The following people who signed this petition do so because they would also like to see Amy's Organic No Cheese pizza, and the other above mentioned Amy's Kitchen products go vegan. They currently will not purchase your product because it contains honey, and promise to buy it once it is free from animal products.

It would be all the more beneficial for vegans, and for the business of your company not to include honey in any of your other products that are otherwise vegan.

Dear Clara,

Thank you so much for your letter and petitions. I've been a vegetarian myself for 30 years, and although I use very little dairy I've not really considered the honey story until I browsed through the petitions. I appreciate the sincerity of your request and it's certainly given me food for thought.

I'm glad that you enjoy our vegan products. I [am] happy to tell you that we are working on a recipe using an alternative for the honey in the Roasted Vegetable Pizza (no cheese pizza). At present, we are still testing results. We will try to let you know when we reach the final outcome.
