Math topics we have or will cover
- Counting numbers are the numbers we use to count.
- A sequence is a counting pattern.
- Whole numbers are the counting numbers and 0.
- The sum is the answer to an addition problem.
- The product is the answer to a multiplication problem.
- The addends are the numbers added.
- An algorithm is a procedure for getting an answer.
- A number line shows numbers at a certain distance from zero.
- A unit segment is the distance from 0 to 1 on the number line.
- Factors are the numbers that are multiplied together.
- Horizontal means like the horizon.
- Vertical means up and down.
- Acute angles are less than 90 degrees.
- Obtuse angles are more than 90 degrees
- Right angles are exactly 90 degrees.
- The remainder is what is left over.
- The denominator is on bottom and shows the number of equal parts in the whole.
- The numerator is on top and shows how many of the parts are counted.
- Parentheses show us what to do first in a math problem.
- When lines
- Lines which go in the same direction and stay the same distance apart are called parallel.
- Intersecting lines and segments that form square corners are perpendicular.
- An angle is an opening between intersecting lines or segments.
- A polygon is a shape made by line segments which close in an area.

Be sure you know your basic facts!
Remember the steps for rounding numbers.
1. Underline the digit in the place you are rounding to.
2. Circle the digit to the right of the underlined numbers.
3. If the circled number is less than 5, leave the underlined number alone.
4. If the circled number is 5 or more, raise the underlined number one.
5. All digits to the right of the underlined number change to zeros.
6. All the digits to the left of the underlined number stay the same.
