compelling novel of deep religious conviction and the joy to be found when one listens to their heart and follows instincts guided by a divine hand.

Abigail Stanton clings to her faith, having lost almost everything else. The death of her husband and son brings her closer to God, but leaves her determined never to again risk her heart. Needing direction in her life she accepts the job of housekeeper and teacher for the notorious Conor MacKay, a man whose godless reputation is infamous. His young daughter, born out of wedlock, suffers the anguish of her father’s actions and it is up to Abby to mend the damaged soul of both father and child. Although the road to realization comes with many potholes and pain, Abby knows her destiny lies along this course. Setting her sites on the ultimate goal, and counting on the wisdom of the Lord, she takes the first timid steps toward the resurrection of her life and the unlocking of her heart.

Conor MacKay needs no one to tell him how to raise his child, especially not a goody-two-shoes like Abigail Stanton. He knew the pain of love lost and the futility of prayer, having begged the Lord for the return of his wife when she ran away with another man. There was no God as far as Conor was concerned, and forbids Abby to bring Him into his house. Watching her struggle to win his daughter’s affection, and bring comfort and solace to his home, Conor feels a wellspring of hunger begin to bubble from deep within. A need to belong, to be loved, to be cherished eats at his heart and soul, but Abby’s demands for humanity, and love of God, keep him at arm’s length.

Kathleen Morgan writes with deep emotion and feeling, dipping her pen in the fount of human kindness to draw a portrait of complex people living a simple life of daily hardships. Her characters come to life as each page brings new development in their quest for answers to age-old questions. The true test of human endurance is conquering the fear of death; trusting in a higher power, and helping fellow men come to the understanding of the joys inherent in living a life of faith and love. Kathleen Morgan sheds a light to guide all in quest of salvation.
