udith Canmore, royal heiress and niece to England’s Queen Matilda, plans an outing to gather herbs with the nuns from Romsey Abbey where she resides in impatient hope of news of a betrothal, or invitation to court. Snatched by a band of Saxon brigands, Judith finds herself at the mercy of those who plot treason, planning to overthrow King Henry and seize the treasury. Fortunately for Judith, Corwin of Lenvil, on his way with a message from his twin, Ardith, chances upon the abduction and gives chase. Attracted to the handsome knight, Judith knows the disparity in their stations prohibits an attachment, but circumstances draw them together in a daring plan to thwart the insurrectionists and save the crown of England, but can they save themselves from the fiery passion of true love?

Shari Anton knows how to manipulate a plot, intertwining romance with suspense to keep readers on the edge of their seats until the final page. By Queen’s Grace is the companion story to By King’s Decree, telling the tale of Ardith’s twin, Corwin, and doing so in marvelous fashion. Ms. Anton excels at writing heroines of courage and daring, imbuing them with wit and wisdom, which makes for stories of depth and perception. Flawless research adds just the right amount of flavor without bogging the plot in a historic morass that might, with a lesser author, overpower and destroy the delicate balance between fiction and non-fiction. An excellent read by an excellent author.
