Welcome

So you wandered over here some how or another. You aren't expecting much because this is Angelfire. I suggest you head to my cat site if you don't think good things can be done on Angelfire. But let's get back on track: I'm Wiccan. Maybe you are, too, or maybe not. Maybe you know me and have just fallen out of your chair with shock. I'm not "goth" or any other sterotype you may have about witches. I'm just a plain everyday person that believes men and women exist on an equal level in the universe and nature is a part of us. In case you are uninformed- witches do not believe in Satan. Satan is a Christan belief. In fact, the reason most people tie Satan to Witchcraft is early Christians, in an attempt to make people shy away from their pagan (country dweller) believes, took our God symbol and made it into their devil so we'd look evil.

So what is Wicca? Wicca is the belief in and practice of magick. Some Wiccans believe in a God and Godess (I am one of them) and some just believe in the Goddess. Who's She? She's Diana- the Roman goddess. She is also Mother Earth. Who is this God guy? The Horned God (Pan), usually thought of as merry and happy. Most Wiccans believe in several more gods and goddess (the Neo-Pagan religion mainly borrows from Celtic, Greek/Roman, and Egyptian ideas). The Wiccan creation story is similar to the Hindu one: In the beginning there was One. And the One was lonely and so became Two (God and Goddess). Something else similar to Hinduism? Wiccans do not believe they are the one true path to divinity. Which is why you don't have them knocking at your door, trying to convert you. We're all getting to the same place, just in different ways. Actually, I stumbled across a very interesting Christian look at other religions- it's very nicely written, I suggest you take a look.

Do witches really cast spells? Yes, just like other religions pray, Wiccans look to the Gods and/or Goddesses for help and get in touch with them by casting a spell. But I'm not going to go into great lengths with that- there are many books devoted to the subject out there.

Can I tell a witch if I see one? That depends on how open the witch is. I wear pentagrams (earrings, necklace, and ring), and other than that, perfectly "normal" clothes, but some of us get really decked out. Wait- you're confused as to what a pentagram is/stands for? Five points: Spirit, Earth, Fire, Air, Water, surrounded by Free Will. This is not a sign of Satan (you get that by now, right?). A Satanic symbol looks like the pentagram, but the star is upside down (inverted).

What is the Wiccan Wheel? Wiccans believe each year is a cycle that will forever repeat itself. At Yule the God is born to the Goddess. Through out the year, the God and Goddess change (the God matures and the Goddess goes through the 3 moon cycle- Maiden, Mother, Crone). Then at Samhain (Halloween), the God dies and the Goddess mourns his death in the dark days before it is once again Yule and he is once again born of her. Little confused? Look at my page on the Wiccan Wheel for more help.

Gormlaith- splended soverienty

In Germany, they came first for the Communists, and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Communist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Jew.

Then they came for the trade unionists, and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a trade unionist.

Then they came for the Catholics, and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Catholic.

Then they came for me, and by that time no one was left to speak up.
