This 1942 Plymouth belongs to Bill Massey who purchased it from an estate auction in 1991.
Bill is the second owner of this automobile and has quite an interesting little story. In 1942, after the start of WWII, the government had rationed tires, fuel,
and raw materials used in the production of equipment for the war. Mr. Stump needed tires for his Chevrolet but was told he could not purchase them. He did learn
that he could buy a new car, so he came home with this Plymouth. The trim was painted when it was built by the factory, and yes, the gray trim is as it was originally built.
The color is Airwing Gray. The car sold for $935.00 plus options which included fender skirts, incidentally Bill has the original skirts. There were 68,924 Plymouths of this model
built in 1942. The engine is original, but has been rebuilt due to sitting for 25 years. It has a 218 Cubic Inch Engine with 95 Horse Power. It is built on a 117 inch Wheelbase and
has a 3.9 Rear Axle Ratio. It had 73,344 miles on it when Bill brought it home in 1991.
