SCHOOL HISTORY

Good Shepherd Lutheran Church began its educational ministry to preschool children in 1980. In 1984 Good Shepherd Lutheran School was expanded to include classes for children in kindergarten through grade 8.

The goal was then, as now, to provide quality Christian education. It was found that many in the church and community were searching for this type of education.

Two classroom additions were constructed and several modular buildings provided during the following years as the school quickly grew. In 1986 the preschool classes were moved to the spacious facility located about .5 mile from the main campus. The additional space allowed for the opening of the day care center that year.

During the 1998-99 school year, 513 students in preschool through grade eight were provided quality Christian learning opportunities on two campuses. The main campus includes 16 classrooms, office complex, gymnasium, and library on about 14 acres of property. The 5 acre Early Childhood Campus includes a large play area, an exceptionally large preschool area for the 70 children enrolled in four sessions, and a day care facility equipped for 45 lambs of God.
