Misery Loves Company

There was a story

I read long ago

Simple and false

The best one ever told

I remember it clearly

Though things fade away

Time cannot take it

It has a lasting quality

It was an adventure

A saga of sorts

A prince and a princess

Rode on a white horse

The ending was happy

As most endings are

The confusion wasn't there

It had gone away far

And I lived my whole life

In a confused blur

Never knew right

From the story or world

Never wanting to admit

Victory or defeat

Got called a lot of things

Wore a lot of crowns

Dropped them all

I like to play my game

Everyone has their own

Mine is to find something

Love it and lose it

It's an easy game

No rules and no rhyme

Much like the story

Pretty people

Fair and right

Injustice not there

Broken hearts deserve broken hearts

But no story ever says

Misery loves company
