Cinderella

I read the fairy tale

Dreamed it

Lived it

Then my prince came

Married me

Carried me

Over the doorstep

Then I woke up

Six kids

No job

Living on you

Working at some store

Late

Come home nights

Sleep days

Until you get up

And work again

Then you yell

We don't have enough

We never will

The little girl

Mine

Walks up to me

She brings a book

Read to me

She cries

So I read

When I'm done

She says

I want to be like Cinderella

And I say nothing

Speechless in her words

Cinderella on the floor

Rags on me
