Found in the entire indo-pacific region it is one of the more common butterflyfish of the australia-new guinea region. Inhabits both inner and outer reefs at depths of 1-10 meters.

Found singly and in pairs,seldom in schools,this is a non-agressive to other fish. Can be shy in the aquarium.
