Purple Tang











Zebrsoma xanthurus

The purple tang is deep purple with a brilliant bright yellow tail. This fish is rare and expensive,they are from the red sea and the arabian penninsula. Specimens today are almost always adults.

Maintenance Diffuculty:

This fish is easy to keep. They are hardy and accepts all kinds of food.

Maintenance:

It is important that you feed tangs a good variety of live, frozen,prepared formula foods with emphasis in vegetable and spirulina. Best to feed small amounts several times a day.

Foods:

Mainly found grazing on algae.

Habitat: Natural Geographic Location:

Found in the Red Sea and the Arabian Penninsula. Swims at dpths of 2 to 20 meters.

Social Behaviors:

Has a reputation for being belligerent in the aquarium but is partly due to the fact that only adult specimens atre avaiable. Once they are settled in they usually do well. Treat is any territorial type tang.
