	In roman times any sort of mail cuirass, would by simple definition, have been called a Lorica Hamata, however in Midlight there has been an actual line drawn between the two pieces of armor. The mail cuirass of Midlight does not run to the knees, instead, like the muscle cuirass, it stops just below the chest. Chest, and back protection have both been strengthened over the normal lorica hamata, so that the mail cuirass is superior to the lorica hamata in both those areas. For those of you who have cod pieces, and other armor that protects the waist, and who can afford the weight, I highly recommend the mail cuirass. Espicially good for warriors who like to have specialized armor for every area of their body. Generally this type of short lorica, is used by armies of Midlight who depend on oversized shields (like the Aestivan Phylanx) for chest protection. The Iridine legions prefer to use the lorica hamata, however the mail cuirass does rear it's head here and there.
