![]() Breeches were originally invented by the Celts.
Roman legionaries adopted these short pants while on campaign in the colder
northern climates. After a few hundred years they soon became common
wear in the empire. Breeches are basically short pants, that come
to just below the knees. Unlike the later renaissance period, Romans
did not wear tights or long leggings under their breeches.
