Generally used to hold ones pants up, belts are also a fairly adequete form of waist protection.  While not nearly as good as a Lorica, or even a good pair of Pterygyes, some styles of belts, espicially the ones with iron, or bronze buckles, will do at least a passable job of protecting the waist, espicially for the price.  Belts come in a wide range of styles and colors as well as prices.
