The Devil Disciples was developed during the early 1960s by David Barksdale B.D's mail rival was the blaccstone rangers. Barksdale soon united the Gangster disciple, led by larry hoover and the blacc disciples into blacc gangster disciple nation. From 1966-1970, the disciple fought a bloody war for control of the woodlawn and englewood neighborhoods on the south side. It is siad to be the bloodist war in Chicago's history in an effort to ease the violence, th efederal war on poverty programs earmarked thousands of dollars to grant money to disperse among the leaders of the blaccdtome rangers and the gangster disciples. distributing drugs and exorting from independant drug became barksdale way of making money. But in 1974, barksdale was assassinated barksdale's protege, Jerome "shorty" Freeman, took over the blacc disciples.
