My Family Background

"It takes a village to raise a child..."

I come from a rather large family.  I am somewhat fortunate to be able to have most all of my family still with me today.  They are spread out all over the country, mostly on the East Coast but there are a few in the Midwest as well as in Canada, Jamaica and the Bahamas.

On my Dad's side of the family there are ten Children.  Originally fromGKATIE.JPG (19879 bytes) Alabama, my dad was the fourth of ten children to Frank and Katie Bell Wilson.  My grandparents had 4 boys and 6 six boys.  While my grandfather died before I was born, the only death I have experienced on this side of the family has been my great-grandmother (maternal) when I was 14.  Now she is a great-grandmother.  My uncles and aunts produced a lot of cousins and they've produced more cousins.  I have close to 80 or 90 in all.

My Mom's immediate family is not as large as my dad's but with her extended family it is rather large.  My mother, born in Jamaica, moved to New Jersey at the age of nine along with her sister Marie.  Her father, Dr. Claude Bryce, now lives in Queens, NYC.  My grandmother, living in  New Jersey, married Robert Seymore and had 2 girls and 2 boys.

My parents were married November 3, 1973 and moved to Evanston, IL in December 1973 where my father began as Pastor of Mt. PisgahDINNER12.JPG (27099 bytes) Pentacostal Faith Church.  My sister Katie, the oldest of four, then myself, then Jaqueline (pictured above with Grandma Katie), then Jessica make up my immediate family.  We are all grown up now and have all, except for Katie, have graduated from college.  My parents have been instrumental in this accomplishment.  They have made many sacrifices in order to make this happen.

God has been good to us all and I truly believe it is because of my family's love for God.  My grandmothers raised my uncles and aunts to love the Lord and has diligently prayed for the family.  While all families have struggles, it is good to know that I had prayin' grandmothers.
