FROM THE MIDWEST FIEROS CLUB HOUSE

Feb. 20th turned out to be a snowy winter day but we still had about 15
people who were able to make it to our meeting.
We talked about the coming summer events and made a few plans.
Saturday, May 15 is the spring kick-off car show for the "Minnesota Fieros Forever"
car club. So far we have 5 cars who are planning to attend this event.
We plan to meet at the club house after work on Friday the 14th then caravan
to Minneapolis. Mike Bensen (712-943-4019) is in charge of planning the
route and picking a motel for us. We will attend the car show-picnic on Saturday.
Some will return home and some plan to stay over until Sunday.
Anyone who would like to go should contact us at the clubhouse. This will be a
great way to start the season and I believe we will have enough cars
to make a good showing. We also made some preliminary plans for the
Wisconsin Dells show in June. More on that later.

Jerry and Jan Moore and Jerry and Peg Burrow (the In-Laws) were given
the job of ordering the trophies for our July 31 show at Sac Air Museum in Omaha.

Rob Swanson is developing an internet web page for our club. We'll keep you
posted on the progress.

We now have 22 members and I add that they own 41 Fieros between them!!!

Mike and Cathy Mohr have visited the clubhouse several times and are
looking forward to our '99 season.

Ed and Marcy Weiner stopped by. Seems Ed bought a cessna 172 airplane but he
is still going to take time to freshen up the paint on Marcy's 86 1/2 black GT.

Dick Edzards and I have been doing an engine swap on one of their
'87 GT's at the clubhouse. Sunday, Nancy brought a complete roast beef
dinner and prepared it for us in the club kitchen. We were stuffed.
Pretty much put an end to the work!! Joleene and Nancy went down the
street to an antique auction—came back with a $12.00 "real steal".

New members to our club are:
*Kevin Lindeman who is from Eden Prairie,Minnesota, joined us with four Fieros.
*Brad Krause who is from McClelland, Iowa, owns a white '84 Indy Pace Car.
*Craig and Gina Redechel of Clarion, Iowa, are the proud owners of a silver '87 coupe.
WE WELCOME YOU TO OUR CLUB AND ARE LOOKING FORWARD TO ENJOYING FIEROS WITH YOU!

Some of our members have E-mail addresses so we are listing them below.

Getting ready for summer tip:
Air conditioner---Now is the time to think about cool air for summer
driving. If your air conditioner is in need of a charge of R-12 freon, you
may be surprised when you get the bill. Our system holds about 3 lbs. of
this invisible gold and the current price is running $35.00 to $60.00 per
pound and going higher. If you need 3 lbs., it might be smarter to convert
to R-134 freon which sells from $5.00 to $10.00 per pound. To make this
switch you need a conversion kit (about $30.00) and a little more in labor
from your air cond. repairman. The cost will be less if you have to add
more freon in the future. If you have to replace your air conditioner
compressor, then it's a no-brainer—switch to R-134. I have converted 2 of
our cars and they both operate just fine.
