Jamie McKenzie's website contains excellent online lessons created by teachers in the Bellingham, Washington and Grand Prairie, Texas school systems.

Global SchoolNet (GSN) provides 66 examples of Model Student Web Projects at all levels, elementary, middle, and high school, as well as a directory of K-12 projects.

What other web resources are available to help us develop EL units?

There are many ways to approach this task; choose the model that feels "right" to you and will work well with your curriculum.

Kathy Schrock, famous for her online "Guide for Educators," also has wonderful advice for teachers creating web resources for classroom use in her "WebQuests in Our Future : The Teacher's Role in Cyberspace."

Area 1 Hub provides a Unit Framework and an Authentic Problems approach.

Celebrate Online Learning!, a new Hub 1 initiative, provides an opportunity for Area 1 teachers to join design teams to create and publish (online, of course!) collaborative projects. 

Palos District 118 has adopted a unit model and has an online tutorial for designing units as well.

FermiLab offers a Project Guide, Scenario Guide, and a Project Planning Tool

The award-winning Alphabet Superhighway website from the University of Delaware has clear guidelines for Creating A Web-Based Project Assignment

Jamie McKenzie has a great set of templates for creating online lessons in his "Module Maker"

Global SchoolNet provides a wonderful tutorial on Planning Your Web Project within their "Harnessing the Power of the Web" section

Tom March, a protege of Bernie Dodge and co-developer of the original WebQuest model in 1995, now lives in Australia.  His ozline.com online company offers great online learning strategies, including his terrific article, Working the Web for Education.
