Phil's 1987 IROC-Z Camaro
Phil's IROC has a 305 TPI engine, coupled to a
Borg Warner T-5 manual transmission, and a
3.08 limited slip diff. He purchased the car in
San Diego, California in March of 1997, as a
one owner vehicle with paperwork to prove it!
Phil's Mods:
INTAKE:
MAF air screens removed. Air Boxes cut out. Custom "Ram Air" system. Fog lights removed for
optimum ram air flow. K&N air filters.
EXHAUST:
Edelbrock TES headers w/AIR injector tubes and custom Y-pipe. Hollowed CAT. Flowmaster Muffler.
IGNITION:
MSD Blaster II coil. MSD 8.5mm Super Conductor wires.
Jacob's Mileage Master Energy Pak ignition box. Swapped Splitfire spark plugs for Champion
Coppercore. Base ignition timing increased to 8 degrees BTDC, up from stock 6 degrees BTDC.
CHASSIS:
Weld-in Subframe Connectors. F-Body rear control arms and TPIS rear panhard bar.
Swapped 1LE drive shaft for a TPIS Aluminum drive shaft. KYB GasAdjust rear shocks.
ENGINE:
March underdrive pulleys. 160 deg thermostat replaced with a 170 deg.
TRANS:
Hurst T-5 Shifter. Centerforce dual friction clutch. Redline synthetic gear oil.
MISC MODS:
Throttle body coolant bypass. SLP 160 degree thermostat. Air pump removed, diverter air passages
plugged. A/C compressor belt removed. Bosch single wire O2 sensor. Mobil 1 synthetic motor oil
w/FRAM TG oil filter. In-dash LEDs (2) to display ECM Open/Closed loop operation.
