SILVER CUP
Tournament

Commemorating George Silver, Gentleman

"...Oh that men for their defence would but turn their mind to practice the true fight...."
George Silver, Brief Instructions on My Paradoxes of Defense, 1599

The CSG Silver Cup Tournament was held on Saturday, June 10, 2000, on the shore of Lake Michigan. It was a huge success! The weather on Saturday was perfect: sunny, breezy, summery-warm. The lake was beautiful. The fighting was superb. Lots of people turned out to compete and to cheer on the competitors. Many thanks to everybody who attended, and special thanks to Gabrielle for officiating and to Ashley for keeping score. Lots of photos were taken, and they will be going onto the new and improved CSG website very soon.

Here are the results of the tournament:

Rapier: 1st place - Troy Herring of Alexandria, Virginia; 2nd place - Mark Rector, CSG

Longsword: 1st place - Troy Herring; 2nd place - Greg Mele, CSG

Sword and Buckler: 1st place - Brian Wright, CSG; 2nd place - Chris Plecha of Detroit, Michigan

Mixed Weapons: 1st Place - Greg Mele, CSG; 2nd place - Brian Wright, CSG

The CSG Silver Cup for Excellence in Swordsmanship, commemorating Geo. Silver, Gentleman, was awarded to Troy Herring. Congratulations, Troy!
