"Blowing Bubbles", photograph, 2000
Who is that in the mirror there?
Who is that in the mirror that?
Who is that in the mirror there?
Who is that in the mirror there?
Who is that in the mirror there?
Who is that in the mirror there?
Who is that in the mirror there?
Reflections
That face, that smile, that gleam
This person is happy, joyful, content
Or is it an illusion?
Is it who it seems
Or is the understanding in the eyes
Hiding total confusion?
I don't recognize the face
This face doesn't reflect the true feelings
Hidden deep inside
I can say it isn't I
I don't feel how this face appears
Serene, peaceful, even happy
An actor, a fraud, a clown
This imposter isn't real
Or is it my soul that is wrong?
From the looks of it, it's me
But should you see into my soul
You would realize, there has been a mistake
Don't be fooled by the trickery
Because reflections don't preserve the soul
And appearances mean nothing.
