This is the WWW home of some of my favorite Earthlings, Kate, Edward, Bourbon (pictured above) and Lenny!
Kate is a box turtle. Kate has been with Polly, my girlfriend 2 years, and has lived with me for 1 year. She seems to like her aquarium as much as I've seen her like anything that was a banana, a worm, or a nice warm spot under her fake log. Her favorite music is the Indigo Girls. As are most box turtles, Kate and Edward are huge NCAA mens' basketball fans. As evidenced by the presence of the cute devil by her name, Kate is a big Duke fan. People often wonder why Kate is not a University of Maryland fan, as many of Kate's closest friends are terrapins. Kate, however, is a Carolina Box Turtle. She is currently reading Melville's Moby Dick. She likes it, but notes that it is exceptionally hard for her to give it a thumbs up, as she has no opposable thumbs. Kate is happy to finally be two years old, as being one was, in her words, "a little tedious". She wants to tell her Mom "Happy Birthday, even though it a little late". Kate has two words for everyone to keep in mind this holiday season "big aquarium".
In case you haven't yet guessed, Edward is also a box turtle. Ed shares his apartment with Kate, and concurs that "when it comes to aquariums, as it is with earthworms, 'bigger IS better'". One point that is less agreed upon is the NCAA alligiences. Edward, being green and all, sees no reason for anyone to follow any team but the Michigan State Spartans. Edward believes there are only 2 kinds of people in the world: Spartan fans, and those who wish they could be Spartan fans. Edward is a big salmon fan, and kiwi holds a special place in his heart. Edward is currently learning OO programming, but like Kate, having no thumbs, finds it a bit hard. Edward believes that sleeping is a very important virtue, and does his best to set a good example in that regard. He too wants to wish him Mom a late "Happy Birthday!". Edward is the turtle world's largest Natalie Merchant fan, and would recommend seeing her in concert, should you get the chance. He hastily added that "you should be forwarned that security is hesitant to let unaccompanied turtles into most venues, so get there early. And bring doughnuts, especially apple fritters, to bribe any security guards".
Lenny, a most recent addition to the group, is currently the token non-box turtle. While the picture would make one think Lenny is a cat, he is not. Lenny is the squirrel that has adopted our apartment as his home away from home. He comes to visit daily, and feasts on the walnuts and sunflower seeds we give him. The reason Lenny chose the cat image is that "that cat looks dumb. Cats are dumb. Especially dumb are cats that think that can just wander into the backyard while I'm hear. They actually shouldn't call cats "cats", but rather "stupidheads", because they are all stupid and have heads". I honestly believe that Lenny's dislike of cats comes from a couple of bad experiences with certain cats, as he's most likely enjoy the company of such cool felines as Sven, Moby, Spice, Justin, or Sill. Maybe even Morgan, but Morgan's kinda a brat. But I digress. Recently, Edward asked Lenny about his NCAA allegiance. Lenny replied that he is a squirrel, and hence finds basketball rather pointless. He further made the point that it's not only odd that Kate and Edward speak such fluent English, but kinda creepy how obsessed with basketball they are. In regards to Polly's birthday, Lenny's thoughts were "I could use some pecans". Squirrels have never been noted for their politeness.
