My Pokémon Games

Hey, I like Pokémon and this is my site about how I am doing with 'em. If you want to know more, contact me.

My Pokémon Journey So Far...

It started back in the late '90's. As a paperboy, I was an early-riser and would watch a few morning cartoons after I got done with my route. That's where I first saw Pokémon, right before it got huge and really caught on fire in the U.S. My dad got me Pokémon Red & Blue for Christmas in 1998. Maybe it was a bit like playing with fire, but I took to Red first and chose the fire-type, Charmander, as my starter Pokémon. For the next solid year, I played that game on my original “gray brick” Gameboy almost non-stop. Eventually, I moved on to Blue. My original Charmander was now a level-100 Charizard and I had beaten both games several times over.

For one reason or another, possibly having done just about all I could in those games, I put Pokémon down, rarely picking it up for several years. In that time, Generation 2 had come and gone, and they Pokémon world had moved well into Generation 3.

After moving to Seattle, I decided to pick it up, playing on my original Gameboy. I also had a Gameboy Slim, which I used to trade pokémon back and forth from Red to Blue, occasionally playing both at the same time. My original Gameboy was great, but it eventually age got to it and it stopped working. This caused a shift. Getting another Gameboy, even a used one, proved problematic, as they had been replaced by both the Gameboy Advance and even the DS by this point. It was easier for me to find the newer, yet compatible Gameboy Advance. This allowed me to continue to play Pokémon, but also opened the door to a whole new generation of games.

Since then, I’ve upgraded past a Gameboy Advance to the Nintendo DS, all bought used. The “Gray Brick” is one of only 2 portable game systems that I have got new. My mother-in-law got me a special-edition red DSiXL, which I play practically daily. I don’t know what got me back into it, but I’ve kept it up strong ever since. After upgrading to the 4th Generation, I have competed in the National Pokémon Videogame Championship several times, getting to the semi-finals in the Seattle Regional Championship in 2009 and the second round in 2010. After the competitive bug bit me, I’m more on top of it. Games are pre-ordered months in advance and I pick them up the day they come out. My goal is to become a Pokémon Master. The question is...what is a Pokémon Master?

Currently Playing:

Black

Generation 1

Red – I have beaten this game (the Elite Four) so many times, it can no longer properly keep track of my hall of fame. I have caught all 150 Pokémon, completing my Pokédex. I never did get a Mew (#151) though.
Status: 150 Caught - Caught 'em all!

Blue – Beaten the game many times, but I have yet to catch them all. I am just 6 away (Bulbasaur, Ivysaur, Charmander, Charmeleon, Flareon, Omanyte).
Status: 144 Caught

Yellow – I started the game with Pikachu (cause you don’t get a choice!).
Status: 1 Caught

Generation 2

Gold – I started the game with Cyndaquil and have caught a few.
Status: 7 Caught

Crystal – I just bought this from BobaKhan toys in Everett. I have yet to start it.
Status: not started yet

Generation 3

LeafGreen – I have beaten the game and caught quite a few, but I am still a long way off from catching them all. I have not yet ventured off into the Sevii Islands.
Status: 131 Caught/144 Seen - Kanto Pokédex

FireRed – I originally started the game for the sole purpose of playing it a few badges in, just to catch a number of pokémon to transfer over to my Pearl game. Well, I actually enjoy the Kanto games so much,I kept playing it all the way through. I have beaten the game and caught the 3 legendary birds. Mewtwo is my next goal.
Status: 120 Caught/144 Seen - Kanto Pokédex
Status: 132 Caught/172 Seen - National Pokédex

Sapphire – I have won 7 badges. I actually played this game without a guidebook. Gasp!
Status: 61 Caught/115 See - Hoenn Pokédex

Ruby - I bought the game used, but I'm not ready to start it.
Status: not started yet

Emerald – I restarted the game after some worry about potential hacked pokémon making it onto my cartridge, but eventually got well past the point I was originally at before the restart. I started with Treecko again, now Sceptile. I have beaten the game and am now off to catch the Legendaries. Recently, while playing to catch pokémon to transfer to my Generation IV and V games, I noticed a Sunkern had...Pokérus! I've since been sure to pass it along to many other pokémon and other generations.
Status: 118 Caught/162 Seen - Hoenn Pokédex
Status: 132 Caught/177 Seen - National Pokédex

Colosseum - I don't play this as much, as it is one of my few non-portable games. My main reason for getting it was to get the Johto starters and Ho-oh.
Status: 13 Caught

XD:Gale of Darkness - I haven't started this game just yet and probably won't till after I've got fairly far in Colosseum.
Status: haven't started

Generation 4

Pearl – I caught 'em all! Using Wi-Fi, trading with my other games, going to special events, and many, many hours, I caught all the Pokémon legitimately, not using any cheat devices or help from anyone else. This was a huge accomplishment for me and one of my greatest "geek" moments. Not only have a caught every single Pokémon released through the 4th Generation, I have one of every Pokémon species on hand, so I could easily trade them over to any of my other games to complete those Pokédexes as well. I have completed this game in almost every way possible, including catching all in-game legendaries and finishing all the storyline elements of the game. Starting the game with Chimchar, now a level-100 Infernape, I have upgraded to a Silver Trainer's card. My hope is to just work on contests and the battle tower and upgrade to the elusive Black Trainer card.
Status: 151 Caught/151 Seen - Sinnoh Pokédex - Caught 'em all!
Status: 493 Caught/493 Seen - National Pokédex - Caught 'em all!

Diamond - I got this game as a present and started it with Turtwig, now Torterra. I have won the game and now have a Bronze Trainer's Card. I also obtained all of Haley's trade through My Pokémon Ranch. My current goal is to catch the remaining legendary pokémon, Giratina.
Status: 140 Caught/151 Seen - Sinnoh Pokédex
Status: 286 Caught/337 Seen - National Pokédex

Ranger - I loved Shadows of Almia so much that I had to get the original. I am a Ranger Rank 7 with Styler level 11. I am currently on Sub-Mission A, at the point where I am trying to catch the 4 dragons.
Status: 84 Entries in Ranger Browser

Ranger: Shadows of Almia - Having finished the main storyline by completing Mission 16, I'm a Top Ranger, Rank 10 with Styler level 44. I have finished the first 40 pre-ending Quests plus 1 post-ending Quest, with 20 more Quests to go. It's a totally different gameplay, so that's been a lot of fun for me. I have cleared all 3 Special Missions, transferring all 3 special pokémon to my other games. Now I am off to completing the Ranger Browser and finishing the remaining Quests and Extra Missions.
Status: 242 Entries in Ranger Browser

Ranger: Guardian Signs - The 3rd game in the Ranger series and it doesn't disappoint. I completed the main storyline, completed all 16 Missions and cleared all 52 Quests. My Styler is level 60. I have done many of the special multi-player wireless missions, but I am having a lot of difficulty with it since I'm playing it by myself. I need to keep working at them till I can get to the last special mission and get Deoxys.
Status: 303 Entries in Ranger Browser - Browser Complete!

Platinum – I bought this game the day it came out and initially had one main purpose for it, to compete in the 2009 National Pokémon Championship, which I did, making it to the semi-finals in the Seattle Regional Championship. I started the game with Piplup, now Empoleon, and completed the Sinnoh Pokédex. I have caught all the legendary pokémon and am now working on completing the entire Pokédex. I have a Bronze Trainer card. My goal is to have at least 2 games with complete Pokédex's, not just having caugth 'em all, but having one of each pokémon species on hand.
Status: 208 Caught/210 Seen - Sinnoh Pokédex
Status: 471 Caught/477 Seen - National Pokédex

My Pokémon Ranch – My first WiiWare purchase after getting the Wii, I quickly dove into it, depositing pokémon and trading with Haley. Though not really much of a challenge or even a true game, it has proven an excellent way to organize the pokémon I have on Diamond and Pearl. My ranch is now at the top level and I have recieved all the trades including Phione and Mew. Currently, I have 398 pokémon from Pearl, 182 pokémon from Diamond, and 108 from Hayley.
Status: Ranch level 25

Pokémon Rumble – This is my second WiiWare purchase and I'm enjoying the different style gameplay. I have defeated Mewtwo and beaten the Normal and Advanced Modes. I just started working my way in EX Mode. My wife actually liked playing this game too. She got farther in the game than I have so far, having almost beat the game entirely. Weird.
Status: Rank EX; Collection: 229/257
Wife Status: Rank EX 2; Collection: 245/257

HeartGold - I started the game with Cyndaquil, now Typhlosion. Having conquered both Johto and Kanto, beating the Elite Four twice, and even besting the legendary Red, I now move on to complete the Pokédex. Now, I'm just working on completing the Johto Pokédex. I've been using PokéWalker a lot lately and I have caught several Flying Pikachu. Now I just need to catch a Surfing Pikachu. I have completed nearly every story element in this game, which just a few to go like the Ruins of Alph. I also need to complete the special Arceus event and get myself a legendary dragon egg.
Status: 220 Caught/245 Seen - Johto Pokédex
Status: 288 Caught/348 Seen - National Pokédex

SoulSilver - Starting with Totodile, now Feraligatr, I raced through the game to get to a good point to compete in the 2010 Pokémon Video Game Championship. I've upgraded to the National Pokédex, caught all the legendary pokémon and now I am going back to complete some of the sidebar parts of the storyline that I went past initially.
Status: 139 Caught/228 Seen - Johto Pokédex
Status: 176 Caught/289 Seen - National Pokédex

Generation 5

Black - Starting this game with Tepig, now Emboar, I've charged through the game and have beaten the main storyline. Also, since I've already "caught 'em all" in the 4th Generation, I'm trying to catch as many pokémon species as I can, completing the Pokédex as I go along, so I can yet again catch 'em all. I competed in my 3rd Seattle Regional Championship with Black. Unfortunately, I faced the 2009 Seattle Regional Champion in my first round. After a good fought battle, he bested me and he eventually made it into the finals. The event did open my eyes to the on-line battling capabilities of my game, having placed fairly well on the Global Battle Union. In the game, I have completed nearly every post-game storyline task, caught all the normally-available legendaries, beat the Champion a couple times, completed the Unova Pokédex, and am chipping away at completing the National Pokédex. A recent foray back into Generation III led to a discovery of Pokérus which I've since transfered up to my Black game. I just have a few areas to fully explore, such as the Abyssal Ruins. For now though, I have put a lot of effort into on-line battling and getting a good ranking on the Global Battle Union.
Status: 155 Caught/155 Seen - Unova Pokédex - Caught 'em all!
Status: 609 Caught/615 Seen - National Pokédex

White - On my second week of vacation after I bought the pair of games, I started this game with Oshawott, now Samurott. Like with Black, I took my time and completed everything as I went along. Though lagging in Unova Pokédex completion in comparison to White, I'm still working at getting it done. I have completed the main storyline and have caught just about all the legendaries. I still need to expand the White Forest and take on the Elite Four again with the Champion.
Status: 110 Caught/152 Seen - Unova Pokédex
Status: 247 Caught/384 Seen - National Pokédex

Pokémon Conquest - By far the most unique of all my DS games, Pokémon Conquest has me as a "Warlord" using both pokémon and warriors to help me conquer other kingdoms and eventually defeat the nefarious Nobunga.
Status: Gallery; Found - 97/199; 131/199
Warriors: 185/200

Black 2 - Starting with Tepig, now fully-evolved into Emboar, I have completed nearly the entire storyline. I have caught most of the legendary pokémon and am working on slowly completing the Unova Pokédex as I compete in the PWT.
Status: 199 Caught/287 Seen - Unova Pokédex
Status: 255 Caught/470 Seen - National Pokédex

White 2 - I've started the game with Snivy and played just far enough to start my online account and have earned my first 2 badges.
Status: 30 Caught/50 Seen - Unova Pokédex

Generation 6

X - I've started the game with Fennekin, now Braixin and have earned my first gym badge.
Status: 40 Caught/60 Seen - Kalos Pokédex

Y - I've yet to start this game.
Status: haven't started
