Earl the Doggie-The dog whom the cartoon "Mutts"  was supposed to be based upon. He was created after Patrick McDonnels little dog.  Probably one of the most sensible animals in the cartoon, he is smarter then his best friend Mooch (the cat). He mocks his friend Mooch once in a while, and is a loyal friend. He is very protective of his friend and jump to his friends help if he is in any serious trouble (such as a fight). earl lives with his owner, Oz, also known as his hero.

Mooch the Cat- One of Earl's best friends since they were little. Mooch may not be a very smart cat but he is creative. In fact, he has his own language which consists of Yesh's and Nosh's and many other words. Personally (to me) he is one of the most adorable characters in the cartoon.  When Mooch first joins the cartoon, he is an immeadiate hit and has become the most loved of all the characters. He gets into loads of trouble and is one of the most goofiest characters. Mooch lives with his owners. Millie and Frank. He falls in love with a cat names Schnelly, whoms window is next to a tree. He crawls up the tree and sings to "his" Schnelly once in a while.

Oz- The owner of Earl, he is known to his pet as the personal trainer, caterer and a personal secretary. Oz has a mustache and a cute haircut (he looks Italien) He is neighbors and friends with Millie and Frank. Oz lets Mooch go out whenever he wants to, but worries about him if he is gone for days. He is usually seen in the comic hanging out with Millie and Frank or taking out Earl for a walk.

Millie-The wife to Frank and the owner of Mooch the cat, and the goldfish. She takes care of Mooch very well, playing with him or knitting him some goofy little clothes to keep him warm. She seems to work at home. Her hair is always pulled up into a bun.

Frank- The cute and goofy owner of Mooch and the husband of Millie. He lounges about the house and even sits outside to enjoy napping next to Mooch and Earl whenever they curl up outside. He has a mustche and wears glasses.

The Goldfish- The cute little goldfish that is trapped inside a small fishbowl. He swims aroundin circles every day (what else is there to do?) and tries to jump out of the fish bowl once in a while. But to no avail, he is always found and thrown back into the fishbowl to his disapointment. He jumps up and down whenever he sees Millie and Oz excercising.

Guard Dog- A huge Bulldog which Earl and Mooch usually sit by and talk to. He sits outside and gaurds the house, once and a while feeling unloved. He can speak a little french (and was thought to be a french Guard Dog) in one of the strips. He has a black ring around his eye and always has a mad face on. He is only called Guard Dog "I'm a GUARD DOG! I FLIRT with FEAR!!! grrr.. I DANCE with DANGER!!!!! WHO the HECK can RELAX when they're FACE to FACE with raging TERROR!?!" - Gaurd Dog

Fatty- Yeah, I know. That does not sound right, but oh well. He is the owned of theFatty Snax Deli where both Earl and Moch visit once in a while. They try to steal food from him whenever they can and are usually thrown out of the shop. He is in love with one of his customers. (Some lady with her hair pulled back in a bun. She owns a dog named Murphy. Thats All I know about her)
