It all starts in a typical library. Miaka, waiting for her friend at the local library finds a vending machine nearby the front desk. As she reaches the machines she accidently drops her money and bends over to pick it up. Thats when something weird happens... a red bird enters her visin and guides her up the stairs next to the vending machines into an old reference area where she finds the Book of the four Gods. Her friend joins her and they read the book written in old chinese when they are sucked into the book.... And so the story begins...

The main character of Fushigi Yugi. As is
foretold in the Book of the Four Gods, she
bocomes the Priestess of Suzaku, and the savior of Konan. Miaka is a
gluttonous, selfless, not-so-smart Japenese middle school student. In
becoming the priestess of Suxaku, Miaka is given the responsibility to
find the Seven Warriors of Suzaku in order to grant her wishes and to
save Konan. On earth, she lives with her brother, Keisuke, and her mom. Her parents were
divorced when she was in third grade.
-Yui-
A good friend of Miaka's, she awaits
Miaka's return from the book and helps her pass
through the hard times within the book. Anxiously
awaiting her return, she stays within the library,
reading what her friend faces inside the book. As
their link be
comes stronger with each other, she
calls to her friend Miaka, drawing her back into the library. As her
friend finally makes her way back into the real world, she herself is
drawn into the book in exchange for Miaka. Yui begins to go through
three hard months within the book, believing that her friend will come
back for her. And her wishes come true. But when her friend does
come back... she finds out it was not just for her... and so, disillusioned, Yui becomes her enemy,
the Priestess of Seiryuu.
-Tamahome-
Age- 17
One of the Suzaku warriors, Tamahome is the hunky martial artist who
could probably beat anyone in hand to hand combat. He has an infatuation (or
so it seems?) with money. Slowly, he falls in love with Miaka, and becomes
the object of affection between both priestesses.
-Hotohori-
Age- 18
The handsome Emporer of Konan, he is the person whom names miaka as
the Priestess of Suzaku and places the responsibility of finding the 7 Suazaku
Warriors in her hands. He first appears before Miaka in disguise, which
worked pretty well, for Miaka mistook him for a woman. When he shed his
disguise and told her his true identity, she had to check and see if he was trully
a man. As do most of the characters in the story, he falls in love with Miaka
and he challanges Tamahome for her hand.
-Nuriko-
Dressed in womans clothing and jewelry, this warrior is bestowed
with amazing stregnth. He has lived in the Saraglio in Konan for a year,
his sights upon Hotohori. He is disguised as a girl and remains to be
seen as such until the second video, where the secret is found. Later on
in the series, he cuts his hair and falls in love with Miaka, and even
admits this to Tamahome. But he promises to watch her from afar like
he had done with Hotohori.
-Chichiri-

Learned his abilities from Taiitsukun (Abilities include instantaneous
mobility, freezing opponents, etc)
One of the Suzaku seven, he is probably one of the most powerful out of
all the Suzaku Seven. He always wear masks that seem to actually be like his
face. He can mimic his enemies if he deems so, and
he can disapear and concentrate his energy to
contact others. The scar on his face was from fighting over a girl (dont
really know much about that part).
-Tasuki-
-Age- 17 -Birthdate- 4/18 -Height- 178 cm -Blood Type- B -Hobbies-
Getting into fights -Abilities- Martial Arts, Flame Fan Technique
The 5th (or is it 6th?) Suzaku warrior, Tasuki is one of my favorite characters. He has a sense
of humor and he likes to annoy Nuriko (they become best friends). When he first meets up with
Tamahome, he gets into brawls with him. He does not like him because of the way he treated
Miaka. Soon, though, he realizes their love for each other and leaves them alone. He was chosen
to lead a Bandit gang, but hands it over to his best friend, Kouji, so he can join the Suzaku
warriors.
-Mitsukake-
-Real Name- Myojuan -Age- 22 -Birth Date- 5/7 -Height- 199 cm
-Blood Type- O -Birth Place- A manor near Choko of northern part of
Konan Empire. -Family- Alone all his life. His late girlfriend Shoka was
a daughter of a lord of the manor. -Hobies- Taking care of animals.
-Abilities- Healing Powers
One of the most serious of all the Suzaku Seven, Mitsukake was first seen in the TV series,
fighting Miaka for a trout. He lived alone, blaming himself for the death of his love, Shoka.
Finding out from Tasuki, Hotohori, and Nuriko, that his girlfriend was still alive, he told them of
his story, and concluded that Shoka was probably taken over by the demon. As they ran out of the
hut, to save Miaka, he quickly shaved and cut his hair (he was pretty fast....) and he helped them
defeat the demon in order to save Miaka. But in doing so, he had to kill his love...
-Chiriko-
I really do not know much about him, besides the fact that he's the last of
the Suzaku warriors.
-Nakago-
The leader of the Seiryuu Seven, he is cunning and cruel. He finds
Yui and takes care of her, asking her to be the Priestess of Seiryuu.
When she refuses to become the Priestess, he tries to twist her mind into
thinking that Miaka has left her behind, and that she does not even care
for her at all. He has the ability to freeze people and unfreeze, as well as
throw force bolts and more. Nakago uses Soi sexually to stregnthen his
powers.
