Holiday Food Baskets
The Livingston Park Association, with the help of several other organizations and individuals in the Livingston area, coordinates the collection and distribution of holiday food baskets in the community. Baskets are distributed to the immediate Livingston/Williamson area only, and are delivered just a few days before Thanksgiving and Christmas.
The LPA holds a food drive at the Haunted Road Rallye as well as a competition between classes at the A.R. Graiff Grade School in Livingston. The class that collects the most items wins a pizza party for the class to be held in January. In addition to non-perishable food and toiletry products, toys for children are collected for the Christmas baskets. Contributions in any of these areas are always welcome, as are cash donations which help purchase meat and perishable food items that are included in the baskets.
We couldn’t run this project at all without the aid and support of the Sacred Heart Altar and Rosary Society, who collect/wrap "angel tree" gifts and help with the distribution of the baskets as well. Community groups like the Skyriders Motor Club also have given us large contributions in the past.
To donate food or money towards this important community project, please contact either Cindy Scarsdale at 618/637-2879 or Beth Atwood at 618/531-7685 to arrange delivery or pickup or mail your check to: Livingston Park Association, PO Box 493, Livingston, IL 62058-0493.
If you would like to volunteer to help deliver food baskets or to adopt a child from the Angel Tree, please contact Cindy Scarsdale at 618/637-2879. A child can also be adopted by selecting an angel from the Angel Tree located at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Livingston.
