IWA News And Rumors
Come here to read about all the latest News & Rumors from around the Imaginary Wrestling Association world. Keep in mind that this page is NOT dedicated to ECL-only news, this page for IWA-Wide happenings. If it is ECL-only News that you are looking for, click HERE. Now, I will attempt to keep this page updated to feature new IWA news all the time, but I do not have America-On-Line, so cannot keep up-to-date with news posted on AOL's IWA Boards. But I will try my best. As with most IWA News pages, the older news is at the bottom of this page with newer stuff at the top...
News Posted 14th August 1999:
After about 4 years in the game, Dave White, the leader of PERFECT, has RETIRED. many people had noticed that his page had been cut-down severely, and he hardly ever checked his E-Mail recently, due to a new job, and now it has all gotten too much for Dave and he has RETIRED. Well, he says he will be back in around two-thirds of a year, so it seems to be more of a short break from the IWA. It is believed that PERFECT will continue on with Mike Elwood as leader for now. Also, Will Toy has left PERFECT, and the PERFECT sub-stable (TPF) has folded.
David Becker has LEFT XXX and is now a free-agent. Meanwhile, Jeremy Nace has JOINED XXX.
EDGE have picked-up several new recruits as of late. Their roster IS HUGE, but the talent of some could be questionable. EDGE= Annable / Bell / K.Cook / Freeby / Hogg / Honold / Johnson / Jones / Lee / Olson / Painschab / Pesce / Peterson / Scott / Van Berkel / Whitaker. Also, rumor has it that EDGE will soon be sponsoring the IWA's first "All-Women" stable!
Wes Cales has retired.
News Posted 8th August 1999:
XXX have gone mad! They have release some of their best talent, including former World Champions Zach Gargus and Dan Pedreyra! There are at LEAST three other XXX members who are displeased with these recent firings (Some of which went through WITHOUT a vote), and just COULD be leaving XXX to form a NEW stable with the members who were "booted" from XXX.
IDOL has in fact folded, as the half that never left to form MISFITS have now left and formed Mass Destruction. MD= Bell/Freeby/Honold/Lee/Nace/Olson/Pesce/Whitaker.
I can be the first to confirm to you just now that the Collaboration of Great Talent, or CGT, most definitely IS being re-formed by a former CGT member!
Bella Vista, or BV, has re-formed. It's current roster is Juan DeLeon/Jorge Deleon/Chris Morgan/Steven Rosing/Kenneth Verret.
Dee Walker and Nick Varcoe have both joined VILE.
The Jeremy Houghtaling-Matt Cox Best-Of-5 series has begun! It will be Cox's wrestler "The Master (NML)" -vs- JGH's wrestler "Super Colibri Jr. (ECL)", in an Interleague Best-Of-5 series, in which the loser must RETIRE!
News Posted 31st July 1999:
PERFECT's new side-stable, The PERFECT Foundation has been formed! TPF's current roster currently consists of Ian Smith and the August '99 cycle's Iron Federation champion, Alex Boles, with about three other VERY talented young managers also looking to join TPF very soon. TPF looks as though it could be something very different indeed, and is where "today's young talent can go to be moulded into tomorrow's legends"!
Jake Duvall, Anthony Chatburn, Tim Hufford and various other IDOL members have left IDOL to form MISFITS. Some claim that the reamining IDOL members will now merge with EPIC to re-form the HOH, and that is what this "HomeComing" angle of EPIC's is REALLY all about. Some say that the whole MISFITS thing is also just an angle, though, and everyone will be back in IDOL before we know it. And many have just predicted the demise of IDOL.
Mattias Karlsson and John Rossi have both joined EPIC. This has been billed as "The HomeComing".
Jaysin Bell, Scott Olson, Terry Gamble, Wesley Cales, Gene Boyer and Billy Tucker look to have ALL left IDOL!!
Shane Darby recently claimed that he and his "cousin", Darrel Brewer, are the SAME PERSON, and this person's real name is "Shane Brewer". I can assure you that this is just an angle.
"King Ed" Edward Rooke has retired, and it looks like LOTUS has finally folded.
Jeff Manning has left MOD and signed with XXX!
Johnathan Akers has retired.
Chad Caldwell has retired.
A new stable has formed, named UU, which will be advised by "StableKing" of EDGE. The UU roster currently consists of Ian Smith, Andy Molski, 2 other managers and a former LOTUS manager who should be revealed soon.
News Posted 25th July 1999:
RUMORS claim that Chris NonDorf has joined PRO and the so-called "retired" "Lucky Scrub" Jason McGrew has joined LOTUS.
I recently took a look at a recent CFL bulletin (Yes, the League IS still trying to recover from the pasting that the ECL gave them!), and MOD were recruiting WRESTLERS through the BULLETINS, which is not a common practice of "big-name" stables. What's going-on there? Also, there were a few wrestlers slashing MOD/NVUS and NVUS/MOD... Could this possibly be the very murmurings of a beginning of a MOD-NVUS merger maybe?
A 4-on-4 PERFECT -vs- IDOL series was set to go-down right here in the ECL, but only 2 IDOL managers have stepped-up to face Joe Cassidy, Dave White, Will Toy and Terrence Boyd, those two managers being Jake Duvall and Anthony Chatburn a/k/a Al Vermin. None-the-less, it is still going down 4-on-2 style, with IDOL managers doing double-duty. The early layout for this IDOL-PERFECT series is...
Joe Cassidy -vs- Jake Duvall
Anthony Chatburn -vs- Dave White
Terrence Boyd -vs- Jake Duvall
Anthony Chatburn -vs- Will Toy
Those look set to occur. Negotiations are still going-down between the two stables to decide what will happen in tag-and-six, since these are all "Triple Threat Series" rule.
Joe Cassidy's cousin, Ian Smith, is a free-agent.
XXX have signed Dave Becker, Santa Paglia and Zach Gargus, bolstering this young stable's already fine roster. Becker signed after CM split. Gargus signed after leaving PRO due to disputes with other PRO members (The name "Bob Dippy" has been thrown-around most). I have NO idea who the Paglia guy is, unfortunately.
Jeremy Nace has left PRO and joined IDOL.
After CJ frank ditched him when the whole COD scam went down, Shane Darby recovered marvellously and signed with MOD.
After "leaving DM before they botted him", Dee Walker signed with LOTUS! But, after only a few days in LOTUS, Dee APPEARS to have been booted for getting on the wrong side of another "Lord".
News Posted 9th July 1999:
Guardian Heroes has been formed. CM= Hamilton Ortiz/"Flame Spitting Icon" Michael Koth/"Destructive" Dave Ritzlin/"EnIgMa" Adam Sullivan/TBA1/TBA2/"The Greater Power". Who are the two managers To Be Announced and who is The Greater Power?
Champion$hip Material(CM) has folded, leaving Dave Becker and Chris Nondorf as free agents.
It turns-out that COD was all a big "angle". CJ Frank turned his back on his stable, and then he & Brian Penno signed with EA. The only problem was that CJ hates EA member Neel LaBar, so Neel has been booted from EA! The aftermath of this "angle" has left Jeremy Bailey, Gil Becerra, Neel LaBar, Tim Zaegel, Kevin Payne and Jake Johnson all as free agents!
Charlie Claggett has joined NVUS, and is now slashing as XX/NVUS/NF in most of his Leagues.
Jake Duvall promised a "huge announcement" in the TalkCity IWA Chat a few days ago. But, I didn't go (Very few people did actually), so I don't yet know what that announcement is. My guess is that he's probably left IDOL now or something.
Adam Sullivan IS "The EnIgMa". With that, Adam has returned to the IWA and is now a free agent.
Joe Cassidy has joined PERFECT.
News Posted 26th June 1999:
Lewis Podlaszewski promises another huge signing for PRO soon.
Every IWA news page in the woeld seems to be saying that a few EDGE managers will be leaving soon and also that Andrew Podlaszewski will soon be quitting PRO.
Rumors of a new Fed opening named the Quicksilver Federation have come straight from Johnny B's own mouth.
The Amber Fed is no-more. The 3 Ladies' Leagues that are contained within the Amber Fed have now been joined by 2 new Ladies' Leagues (IML and GDL), for a total of FIVE Ladies' Leagues; One in each "normal" Fed (Iron, Gold, Steel, Diamond and Jade).
Rumors say that the ECL's #1 stable, LOVE, is about to sign some very talented managers & start to make their name across the entire IWA world.
The IWA will no-longer accept match coupons after the Summer 1999 cycle, as some managers were getting counterfeit coupons from the internet. The name "Zach Mercier" has been tossed-around a lot on the accusations of that one.
Interleague play should be back around the July 1999 cycle. But, due to the IWA's new "numbers" system for choosing opponents & new Match Selection Sheets, rumors already say that Interleagye play may NOT return after all.
CJ Frank and all but one member had left PWO to join LAW. But since then, all the guys who came from PWO have also left LAW. Josh Gochnour has joined CM, and CJ Frank has joined-up with a few other IWA managers to form one of those "underground" stables that he loves so much, this one named the Children Of Demise. COD= Bailey/Becerra/Frank/Johnson/Payne/Penno/Zaegel. As for the PWO, it IS still going, with former XX member Mike Crapanzano as it's only current member, but Mike IS looking to recruit.
Kevin Kehl's DOOM is no-longer a part of SA, after a LENGTHY DOOM-SA partnership!
The Superstars Wrestling Organisation (SWO) have merged with the Soldiers That Are Ruthless (STAR) to form the superSTAR Wrestling Organisation (sWo). sWo= Artale / Barnes / Boles / Borhauer / Connolly / Frazier / Gale / Jahnke / Podgomy / Smart / Socks / Toal / Varcoe / Williams / Zambo with a retired Danny Myers as advisor. That is a big roster. Skylar Gale is one hell of a pick-up. Chris Connolly and Carl Socks are also very good managers. But I question the signing of PROVEN strat-taker Jared Smart, as well as his "unproven" friends Nick Varcoe and Duane Williams.
Someone is posting on various IWA Message Boards calling himself "The EnIgMa", and says that he is putting-together a 15-man stable of self-confessed scrubs who will retire 10% of all IWA managers. Rumors of who The EnIgMa is have ranged from "The Smooth One" Jeff Manning to Chris Morgan to Will Toy. It IS known, however, that Mike Monroe definitely IS involved in this somehow. Also, it is strongly suggested that Will Toy, TJ Roe and Keith Sherburn are almost definitely involved, but nothing POSITIVE on those three yet.
In the aftermath of XTREME folding, Ian Smith is now a Free-Agent. Also, former XTREME member Joshua Haight has joined XXX.
"The Loose Cannon" Joe Cassidy, this cycle's National Champ, has quit LPPF due to "a complete lack of communication", and has also folded his great up-and-coming stable, XTREME, for pretty much the same reason. Cassidy is now a free agent and is accepting stable offers, his E-Mail address for stable offers is freeagentjoe_86@posseofterror.freeserve.co.uk and he can also be contacted via Yahoo! pager as LooseCannnonJC and as JoboC 1984 on AOL Instant Messenger.
It appears as if Dee Walker has left CM.
Jeremy Smith is a free-agent.
XXX have announced their new sub-stable, dubbed PROject: X-COM. Managers in the XXX sub-stable will carry the initials "X-COM".
POT has been forced to disband, after Johnny B FINALLY decided to censor the initials after a-year-and-a-half of toing and froing.
