Chapter 9 - Day has come

I woke up, still sleepy, to the sound of my alarm clock. Today was sure to be awesome....Ike....I smiled.

Uh oh.....they're picking us up in half an hour! I jumped out of my bed, forgetting that Alex was there, and stepped on her arm. She yelped and woke up immediately. I ran to the bathroom to wash my face while Alex still struggled to get out of her sleeping bag.

We got dressed, fixed our hair, added make-up, then went downstairs for breakfast to wait to be picked up. My parents had already left for work. I left a note saying that Alex and I had gone to Navy Pier with friends, that they'd give us a ride, and that we'd be back around 9:30 p.m.

Alex called her mom and told her the same thing. I felt dizzy with happiness and anticipation, and I couldn't stop thinking about yesterday. We were both silent, pondering our feelings for our, oh my gosh, boyfriends. Just then, a limo pulled up into my driveway, and Taylor and Ike stepped out.

I knew it was true! Alex and I flew out of the house and into their arms. Ike embraced me in his arms, and I greeted him with a light kiss on the cheek. The four of us climbed into the car. 20 minutes later we arrived at Navy Pier. Ike held my hand, with Taylor and Alex doing the same, following us.

We agreed to split up for 3 hours, then meet for lunch. Tay and Alex headed off in the opposite direction from us. I suggested that we ride the gigantic Ferris Wheel, so we bought tickets and waited in line. A trio of girls stared wide-eyed at us, frowns and looks of dismay plastered on their faces.

They pointed at me, obviously disapproving. One of them said loudly, "But it's not fair! I liked him!" I looked away, angry with their public public display of resentment towards me. Ike noticed, and I could see that he was angry too.

He whispered into my ear, "Just play along." Then he leaned in, kissing me aggressively, pulling me into his arms. I wrapped my arms around his neck, deepening our kisses, understanding that we were putting on this "show" to make those rude girls mad and jealous. Ike moaned, and I playfully twirled my tongue in his mouth.

He overdid it, moving his hands up and down my back, accenting each movement so that those awful girls could see. We pulled apart and he smiled. The rude girls in line behind us had not yet recovered form the shock.

Ike turned to them and said, "This is my girlfriend, and I would appreciate it if you would show some respect from now on. Just because people think I'm famous down't mean that I can't have a life. I'm a person too."

"Well done," I congratulated him, "I couldn't have said it better myself." With that, he took my hand, and we boarded the little car on the Ferris Wheel. The girls followed us, then tried to climb into the ride car with us, while trying to pull me out.

No!" Ike said, shoving the girls out, just as we lifted off the ground. I kissed Ike thank you, but he didn't smile.

"What's wrong?" I asked.

"Maybe we shouldn't do this," he answered.

"Do what?" I questioned.

"This, our relationship. You've seen how the fans react. It's just getting to dangerous."

"No, Ike, anything but that. I don't want to end it. Not now, we can't. You're the most amazing person. I...I love you Ike."

He finally smiled, staring deep into my eyes. He gently kissed me. Then he pulled away, our hands still together. "You know something," he said softly, "You're exactly right. I couldn't bear to end it, because I love you too."
