    Carl Walk:

  • " Carl Wilson was the opposite of what you usually associate with someone as successful as he was: honest, caring, blue-collar, soft-spoken, & a real team-player. He is the member of the Beach Boys I strive to be like. I admired his musical talent & the way that he was always the glue that held the Beach Boys together, no matter what disaster (usually of their own making) was happening."-- Doug Cowgill

  • "Carl was the only Wilson-brother that always seemed to keep his feet on the ground, but his voice was from heaven, his voice was an angel that blessed Brian's music." Jarle arbrandv@online.no

  • "I enjoyed hearing Carl at all the Beach Boys Concerts I went to over the years. I was especially impressed with the courage and drive he showed to perform in 1997 when he was obviously so sick. Little did I know how special that last performance would be when I saw him in Atlanta." -Jon

  • "I never had the privilege to know Carl Wilson. I really wish I had! But, I was blessed enough to have been in the same room as he was for one night, at a concert here in Toronto in 1996. Of course, they played "God Only Knows", which just happens to be my favourite song. Carl's voice was *amazing*... Just as sweet and beautiful and clear as when he sang that song back in '66.. I was totally blown away. And that guitar...geez! I was in heaven the whole night. I had brought a rose, and it was his part on "Kokomo" that inspired me to get it out and try to get it to the band... It was like his voice reached into my heart and touched my soul... Truly amazing. So I got out that rose, and I was dancing with it, singing, the whole bit, for quite a while. Eventually, near the end of the concert, my area of the audience was brightly lit and Mike Love was standing on a direct straight line from where I was. So I was dancing with that rose above my head, and I could see Mike looking at me, so I waved. He waved back, and motioned me down to the stage! So, I went, and in turn, each Beach Boy looked at me and sang to me a bit. Even Carl, who was at the exact opposite end of the stage!! When he looked at me, I accidentally screamed out "HI CARL!!!" I shouted it so loud that he heard me, and started to laugh!! I was kind of embarrassed, I mean I *had* yelled over a song!, but the way he looked back at me, I could tell he only thought it was nice (well, and funny..!). He looked at me a few more times as well..we communicated through eyes and sign language for about the last 15 minutes of the concert. Carl Wilson. Carl took the time to communicate with *me*!! Little 13-year-old, 5'1" me!!! The guys got down at one point and bowed to him...he kind of looked at me like, "Oh geeeeez...!" I couldn't believe it. To me that will always be the way I think of Carl... He was truly an angel. The last memory I have of him was the last time he would ever leave a Toronto stage. As was custom, he ended the concert. "Thank you all so very much for coming out here tonight, you've been a TERRIFIC AUDIENCE!!! It's been GREAT being here!!! We'll see y'all back here again. God bless, and good night!!" And then he walked off the stage. I remember everything about when I found out he was ill...when I found out he was gone... But that is my memory of Carl Wilson. Strong, kind, talented and generous. I hope that he knows how much I love him, for everything he ever did... Carl, you saved my life, I love you, I miss you, and I know you are still here. Always. -Bree Dunsmore, Monday April 12 1999."

  • "I loved his voice...it was one of the most beautful voices i've ever heard in all my life, I admire him as I believe that he acted as the glue that held the group together for a while, and based on what I know and have heard he was a decent guy." CheryBlast

  • "Carl Wilson touched my heart with his music, kindness, and gentle soul. And gaaawwwd, he could be so funny! I wasn't a close friend, but it was an honor to have his footprints in my life path, if only for a small while. I really miss that smile." (from Sassy)
