Dumaguete, November 1998
Janet and I were taking Superferry from Manila to Cagayan De Oro
City in November of 1998. The ship stopped in Dumaguete City,
Negros Oriental. The line for breakfast was so long that morning,
we took a walk to find somewhere else to eat and happened upon
that cornerstone of all Philippine cities, Jollibee!
I had eggs, garlic rice, longanisa, and a large mango juice.
Janet had the same but made me eat her longanisa, since she's a vegetarian.
No problem ba! Then I had her take a photo of me with the mascot, Mr.
Jolly Bee himself.

Malaybalay, September 1997
That's my uncle Alex in the center, kneeling on the floor
holding the Coca-Cola bottle. We offered him a chair, but he refused.
Janet and I are seated near the middle discussing my hair loss, I suppose.
Her cousin Susan is to the left, looking directly at the camera- normally she's
very shy being photographed. Aunt Mary is by the wall under the light switch,
looking as though she didn't get enough sleep. Various other friends and relatives
showed up as well and helped us devour the roast chicken, spaghetti, kinilaw,
cake and mango ice cream... We appreciate their help.

Malaybalay, October 1997
Here I am recording songs on a little home studio contraption
I rigged up at our house in Malaybalay. Sometimes when I was
editing a video for a customer or overdubbing a song,
the power would go out and I'd have to wait an hour or so
until the "brown-out" was over and start again. Then the power might
shut off again for another hour! That's just part of life in
the Philippines.
