EVENING GOWN
As a maiden in her gown,
walks with the widows, so
the red maple,
reluctant to strip,
remains clothed
amongst gnarled hands clasped in prayer.

WINTER STORAGE
Silent stallion rears,
frozen and stalwart,
guarding the herd amongst the
forest of organ pipes. No
calliope or squeals,
only the wind and mice rustling.
Spring will come, with grease and paint, and
He will gallop an endless circle.

EDEN
She walks a narrow path through lushness,
bright sarong, a blossom in the green.
Dusky features, revealed, then hidden, and revealed again.
Broad leaf pushed aside, spilling it's wetness.
In a clearing's full light, she kneels, and sings her joy.

STAINED GLASS
Horizontal plane.
Forged in frozen darkness.
Crystalline detailed edges,
brittle existence, framed in earth.
Once more, a puddle by afternoon.

INERTIA DANCE
The train starts and stops.
Zipper pulls jiggle in unison.
Fourteen bags on the shelf.
Thirty-six metal tabs, silently grooving.

SERENITY
Last night's wind and rain
Stripped the last of the leaves.
Wet, black and naked she stands.
Knowing what it is to wait.

EYEWITNESS
The train burst open, and
Passengers, like fire maggots,
spilled from overripe alien steel fruit,
writhed and kicked and were finally still.
Sirens, questions, tears, and vomit. Bright
memories unwilling to fade.

AGING
Vote Democrat.
Change the world.
Join the peace corps.
Party all night.
Sleeping around.

Vote Republican.
Look out for number one.
Commute like sheep.
Save for retirement.
Got to bed early.
In your recliner.
