Gustave Eiffel

Born: December 15, 1832, Dijon, France - Died: December 28, 1923, Paris

Gustave Eiffel was born in Dijon, France. He went to school at College of Art and manufacturing, after graduating in 1855 he became interested in metal construction. He is known for working on several bridges such as an iron bridge at Bordeaux, the arched Gallery of Machines, and the arch Garabit viaduct. He also designed the Statue of Liberty. But most notable, he is know for the Eiffel Tower. The designing and construction earned Gustave the nickname "magician of iron."
