From the Desk of the
Criminal Justice Advisor

Have you been
or are you now
on Acdemic Probation?

According to the Illinois State University Undergraduate Catalog:

To be in academic good standing students must maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.0.

Students who fail to meet the above requirement are placed on academic probation.
If students are placed on academic probation for a second time or more they will be removed from their major and dismissed from the University.

Students who have been dismissed from the University must be reinstated.

You must petition the Reinstatement Committee for permission to continue. Petition information is sent to the student's home address if applicable.

FAILURE to act upon such request within the deadlines specified in that information will ASSURE non-attendance. Therefore, students should keep their addresses current.

Ok, You've been dropped from the
Criminal Justice Major.
So now what do you do!

1. You must meet the admission requirements as stated for internal transfers.

2. You NEED to Get Serious about your degree! ! ! Don't waste your time and money if you think this is going to be easy! IT's NOT!

HOW do I get serious? I thought I was?

1. Are you working? Maybe you need to reduce your hours at work.

2. Evaluate your social life. Howmany evenings a week do you spend with your freinds (not studying)? Maybe you need to spend some time alone in your dorm room, appartment, or THE LIBRARY, studying.

3. If you have evaluated #1 and #2 above and don't need to make any changes because you don't work and you don't ever go out with friends and you are still having trouble in school you need to make an appointment to see your advisor and get some help with study skills or help with whatever is causing you to fail at your school work.

4. IF YOU HAVE EVALUATED #1 AND #2 ABOVE AND DON'T WANT TO MAKE ANY CHANGES BECUASE YOU LIKE YOUR LIFE THE WAY IT IS OR YOU HAVE PLACED #1 AND #2 IN A HIGHER PRIORITY THAN YOUR ACADEMICS,

DON'T WASTE YOUR ADVISORS TIME.

DON'T PLAY GAMES.

If you've been on Academic Probation MORE than 1 time. The CJS Department will help you get serious about your degree.

Probation more than 1 time

EITHER YOU'RE SERIOUS ABOUT THIS OR NOT
IF NOT....DROP OUT OF SCHOOL AND BE HAPPY.

So if you REALLY want help make an appointment with your advisor!
Be prepared to make some changes in your life and you may have to make some hard choices.
Your advisor will not assist you in finding the easiest way to get your degree.

If you JUST WANT the piece of paper. Don't waste your time at ISU. I've got an e-mail address that will sell you what you want for a couple hundered dollars.
