Dear Coleman,

My God.
I just read your colorful web pages.

I just have to say that I'm sorry that you have so few friends
and people who adore you! LOL.

Obviously, you must be an extremely gifted man -
your accomplishments alone are astonishing -
and you obviously have a gift for touching the hearts of others
in a uniquely meaningful way.

I've not met you and don't have to after reading this page
to know essentially your nature
(although, I must say, I'd love to).

Anyone who has a heart as wide and open as yours,
the passion for life that you instill in others,
and a spirit the likes of which exist in very small numbers,
is someone who at the very least, I'd like to continue to write to.

That is a real tribute to your life, Coleman.

Compassion and mindfulness are indispensable to a life worth living
and you have courageously shared yourself with so many -
and changed their lives.

I bow to you,

Imagine a candle for every moment
you've given to others,
every time you've made a difference
to someone else's life...

The light from all those candles
make the world so much warmer,
brighter, and happier...
just like you.

I hope you will celebrate your birthday
the way you live your life -
with passion and joy and style.

Happy Birthday Coleman!

who have had any positive, lasting, influence on my life -
my wife of 28 years and my friend of 30+ years,

Coleman brought me out of a shell and into the world.

He is an exceptionally warm and personable individual.

Moreover, in every endeavor he exhibits energy, industry and creativity.

Dear Coleman,
I just wanted you to know
that I really appreciated the help
that you gave me in High School.

As you probably remember,
High School was a difficult time for me.
I, like many of my peers,
fell into the "ways of the group".
I apologize for being a jerk.

Lucky for me I had a few people like yourself
and my parents that engrained in me
the knowledge that it is O.K. to be yourself
and there is life outside of High School.

Even if I didn't show it at the time,
your teaching was really paying off.

So really I should be the one congratulating you.
Thank you for being real with me and the other students.

Your honesty and genuine love of life
was an inspiration.

Keep in touch and Thank You for everything.

Sincerely,

At first, I was a little jittery
with all these animals & insects around.
I felt like an intruder.
But then I started to calm down,
Remembering what "Hawkeye"(Coleman) told us.

All of a sudden, I was not an intruder, but a visitor.
I listened to the sounds of the forest.
I heard loud chirps from the tree in front of me.
I became more aware. Aware of the sounds, the animals.
Especially the animals & insects.
How clever they must all be to survive.

I started to think about time,
and the time that I would spend here.
It seemed long, but now it wasn't long enough.

I loved nature. I loved the sounds, the sights,
& the smell of fresh air.
Mother Nature is wonderful. I enjoy it all.
I didn't want to hurt nature.
I wanted to be it's friend.

The production was consistently provocative

You just made our vacation.
The programs were outstanding
as well as the service and food.
You have spoiled us for future vacations.
You, Coleman Wheeler, are such an asset.
To say "thank you" is just so inadequate
and words cannot express our gratefulness.

I find Mr. Wheeler to be congenial, cooperative, and sincere.
He has a great interest and belief in young people,
and empathy with them far too many teachers lack.
His ability to get along in any situation, to make friends,
and to create a feeling of trust and sincerity are outstanding.

His personal appearance is excellent
and his sense of humor keen.
He has always been conscientious, competent, and professional.
His classroom management is fine, and needless to say,
his discipline problems have been at the absolute minimum.

You are at the top of cruise directors I have known.
You do what you do so well and all alone.
Truly, you are one indispensable spokesman for this ship;
without you this cruise would not be the same trip.

Coleman Wheeler is a genuine "one-of-a-kind"
when it comes to innovative and unique ideas in teaching.
He involves himself totally into promoting students
and reaches out to them through his artistic ability.

I witnessed Mr. Wheeler give birth
to "The Great American Adventure Club"
which spanned the traditional social barriers
a high school can possess,
into a large group focusing on the love of the great outdoors.

He also spreads out his love of students
into the Community by being awarded
"The Christa McAuliffe Award"
by The Illinois State Board of Education
& The U.S.Department of Education.

The best recommendation I could give an educator is this:
"If I had an opening in my art department next year,
I would actively seek out and hire Coleman Wheeler!"

Keep on going forward, my friend,
because the footprints that you are leaving behind
are long lasting,
and the youth of today need your caring influence.

People like you are rare,
but positively affect many lives.

Coleman's warm personality and people skills
made him one of our best-loved
Cruise Directors.
He was able to balance the many demands of the position
with the ease of a true professional.
He is an accomplished artist
and his creative flair enhanced his role.

As
Manager of Program Development
Coleman brought his creativity into full play,
travelling extensively as our representative,
coordinating the myriad details of new itineraries.
(The Caribbean, South America, Central America,
Mexíco, & Eastern & Western Coasts of the U.S.

I am fully aware of the multitude of details
that go into the smooth operation of a program.
Naturally the principal guest contact

who does an outstanding job.
By contrast with other cruise directors
that we have encountered
there is no comparison.
You should be so fortunate.

Mr. Wheeler is an exciting, enthusiastic,
energetic team player and leader.
His knowledge base expertise, and creativity
have lent themselves
to new and challenging concepts and ideas
for our students.
His particular strengths lie in innovative approaches
with our "at risk" population.

He exhibits a strong sense of self
and role models this for our students.
Mr. Wheeler also, through demonstration,
re-energizes some of our staff
who sometimes feel burdened
working in education today
with all of our social obstacles.

We expected great pleasure from the trip
but we were not prepared for the warmth of the crew

Certainly the one person most responsible for this

to help, to please, to educate & to bring us all together.
He is an exceptional man.

The presence of Coleman Wheeler
and "The Great American Adventure Club"
continue to have a profound impact.
Although public education is available to all students,
many of the clubs and organizations
that help to make a rewarding experience
for some remain unattainable to others.

"The Great American Adventure Club"
has broken through that barrier
by allowing each student, regardless of circumstances,
to become an active participant,
thus providing life-altering experiences
that will be cherished forever.

Coleman Wheeler, as Founder/Director
of the "Adventure Club",
has helped to motivate and encourage students
to strive to reach new heights.
"The Great American Adventure Club"
has given them the courage to dream
and has helped to make those dreams realities.

On a 28-day cruise, a 4.95 rating reads "5.0+" to me.

when its exhibited day-to-day for 28 days straight.

Thank you for your extraordinary effort.

Dear Coleman,
You’re an Amazing Man.

I just happened to visit your website
and was totally impressed by your accomplishments.

You certainly seem
to do it better than anyone I have ever known.

Your "Slow Dance" on the millennium page
really made me think.

I work 14 -16 hours a day, live between Cancun Mexico and London,
and split my working days between producing television series'
and operating web based companies.

Here I am in sunny Cancun as I write this
with a meeting in an hour
and a full day of work ahead -
I think I need to go to the beach -
I haven't seen it in two months,
maybe I just need a slow dance.

I have never sent a total stranger an email
but just had to let you know
that you are the first person in a long time
who has had me sit back and think.

In reading your web pages -
and I will read them all when I make that time,
I thought to myself how it would have been so wonderful
to have a role model like you as I grew up.

I am now 41
and maybe think you just might be my hero.

Thanks for making your web site –
It has made a difference,
even if it was for just one person.

Warmest Regards

Gerry

Special Mention must go to Cruise Director
and holder of many other hats, Coleman Wheeler.
Unlike the usual flashy types of cruise directors
you find on many ships,
Coleman Wheeler is very soft-spoken.

for any questions they might have.
