Commercial Bowling League Rules

2001-2002

This organization shall be known as the Commercial Bowling League.

Rule and regulations of the ABC and the further provisions of this constitution shall govern this league at all times.

The management of this league will be vested in a board of directors, composed of the captains of the teams holding a franchise in this league and the elected officers of the league, who shall have control and management of affairs of the league. They shall enforce all of the objects for which this league was organized and shall have full power to discipline any of its members for violation of the principles of this constitution or for derogatory conduct to the best interests of the league. Each member of the board of directors shall have one vote.

The members of the board of directors shall constitute a quorum to transact business and a majority vote of those present shall be final. Voting by proxy shall be permitted at all meetings of the board of directors. Once the schedule begins, a unanimous vote is needed to change a rule or law.

All disputes, whatsoever, are to be presented to the league president who shall refer them to the board of directors for their sole disposition. Such decisions may be appealed to the Greater Springfield Bowling Association.

The team franchise fee will be $30.00 per team.

The bowling fee will be $11.00 per player per night.

The schedule shall consist of three games per night for 30 weeks. August 30, 2001 through March 28, 2002.

This league will be 90% handicap.

To qualify for season individual awards, a bowler must participate in at least two-thirds of the scheduled games.

If it becomes necessary to postpone a scheduled league game, the captain of the team seeking the postponement must notify the captain of the opposing team and the league secretary by noon of the day on which the match is regularly scheduled. Postponed games should be bowled prior to the next scheduled night's bowling. If possible, the postponed games should be bowled on the regular scheduled alleys. Teams will bowl together.

The eight point system will be used. Two points for each game won and two points for total pins. Ties are one point for each team.

In the event of a franchise opening in this league, the board will vote to accept or reject any application to fill such openings.

If someone other than the captain is to represent a team, the secretary should be notified.

Each captain is responsible for the collection and payment of:

(1) Franchise and sanction fees to the league secretary-treasurer.

(2) Bowling fees to the bowling establishment.

Each captain is responsible for the correctness of the team score sheets. He shall sign his opposing team's score sheet after auditing all totals with the opposing team captain.

A team must have three (3) members present to bowl a game. Any member cannot start a game after the first ball of the third frame has been bowled by either team. Each team is limited to nine (9) active bowlers. Any additions need two-thirds (2/3) of the captain's approval.

Teams will be normally numbered per finish of prior year. No handicap on the first night of bowling. If any team has less than five bowlers the first night, use the lowest man's score on the opposing team less ten pins. If two men are missing, use the next lowest score of opposing team less ten pins.

When a team is short a bowler after the first night, use the highest average of the absent members. If two men are missing, use the first and second averages of the absent members. For the blind score, use the average less ten pins.

Each new member enters using the highest teammate's average. If two bowlers enter the same night, each must use the highest teammate's average.

After the first round, a bowler must have twelve games to use his average.

After the second round, no new bowlers may enter the league unless approval of 75% of the team captains is obtained.

The last two nights of league play will be sweepstakes nights. Each bowler may enter by paying $1.00 for each night entered. Handicap will be computed from the difference from 210 using the league handicap percentage. Bowlers can place only once.

The secretary-treasurer's salary is $375.00 per season.

In the event of the death of a bowler in this league, the secretary-treasurer is authorized to purchase a floral piece of minimum necessary amount for such bowler's funeral.

The Most Improved Bowler award shall be calculated based on a bowler's average after 21 games. A bowler must bowl two-thirds (2/3) of the season to be eligible for this award.
