Novia Scotia

Nova Scotia is one of Canada's four Atlantic provinces. It consists of Cape Breton Island and a mainland peninsula connected to the province of New Brunswick Halifax, its capital and chief city, is Canada's leading Atlantic port. About one third of Nova Scotia's nearly 900,000 people live in the Halifax metropolitan area. Fishing, forestry, and their products are important to the provincial economy. Aerospace industries have also been established in recent years. Cape Breton Island has coalmines and a steel mill. The first white settlers in this region were French who came in the 1600's and called the region Acadie (Acadia). But the British expelled the French in 1755. Nova Scotia became part of Canada in 1867.
