This month's feature poem:

  Titanic
         by David R. Slavitt
Who does not love the Titanic?
If they sold passage tomorrow for that same crossing,
Who would not buy?

To go down. . .we all go down, mostly
alone.  But with crowns of people, friends, servants,
well fed, with music, with lights! Ah!

And the world, shocked, mourns, as it ought to do
and almost never does.  There will be the books and movies
to remind our grandchildren who we were
and how we died, and givem a good cry.

Not so bad, after all.  The cold
water is anaesthetic and very quick.
The cries on all sides must be a comfort.

We all go: a few, first-class.

The Escalators of Life

A decision has come to face me
A matter of life or death, heaven or hell.
The begining, or the end.

Then I realize life is a struggle while
The tides flow in and out,
In and out like the sea.

The escalators to heaven
The to hell
Which one they'd let me enter, only time can tell.

So I'll stay on this journey,
Struggleing through the sea
Trying for a few more days to over-come death.

Lost

Sometimes I feel lost.
A lonely wanderer
In a desert
Searching for something.

Searching and searching
For what it seems
Is far byond my grasp
Floating on a String.

I turn to you
When I need you the most.
You are always there
If I listen hard enough.

You take my hand
And guide me alon,
SOmetimes I stray
But am forgiven anyway.

Sometimes I feel lost.
A lonely wanderer
In a desert
Searching for something.

Then I find you
And am not lost.

Back by popular demand:

Someone
Once in my life I will find someone.
                    Someone whose love is unconditional
And sets my heart afire.

Once in my life I will find someone
Whose look could break the toughest wall,
Just as you have broken mine.

Once in my life I will find someone
Who can make time stand still,
And a lifetime all too short.

Once in my life I will find someone
Who will make the world stop spinning around,
And heaven seem clear in their arms.

Now in my life I have found someone
Who makes my every passion and dream true.
And no time is long enough, you leave me wanting
       more.

Now in my life I have found someone,
              And that someone is you.
