Hizballah Threatens Attacks Even After IDF Withdrawal

Israel's Television Channel 1 Network Dec 28 said that Arab affairs correspondent Ehud
Ya'ari studio reports that there has been another threat from a senior Hizballah official to
continue fighting against Israel even after the IDF [Israel Defense Forces] withdraws from the
security zone. The speaker, parliament member Muhammad Funaysh was speaking at a rally
held in celebration of Ramadan in the village of alSurubiyah. Our Arab affairs correspondent
Ehud Ya'ari reports

Quote: What we must do is to pursue the Israeli occupier even after it withdraws in order to
receive compensation for the casualties and damages it caused us. This remark was made
by Muhammad Funaysh, one of the leaders of Hizballah. Just when the Israeli inner cabinet
is discussing a unilateral withdrawal from Lebanon, an interesting upheaval is taking place
within Hizballah. Until now, Hizballah has been careful to remain vague with regard to the
question of how it will act if the IDF withdraws.

Hizballah leader, Shaykh Hasan Nasrallah explained that the movement was not interested
in issuing clarifications in advance. However, in recent days, there has been a sharp turn
toward a series of declarations -- three within two weeks -- stating that the fighting will not
stop at the border.

Nasrallah himself raised the possibility of Hizballah carrying out cross border attacks on
behalf of the Palestinians. According to Muhammad Ra'd, head of Hizballah's political bureau
and parliament deputy Muhammad Funaysh, a one-time prisoner of ours at Ansar prison, the
justification for this is Hizballah's right to receive compensation. In other words, Hizballah is
trying to influence the Israeli inner cabinet's decision by stressing in an unprecedented way,
that an withdrawal does not necessarily mean an end to the fighting.
