Morath Soulbane was born in the years before the War of the Races to a poor family. His father was a wizard of low rank in the Order at that time, his mother worked in the fishing markets of Kalaman. Morath grew up on the streets, usually left to fend for himself. Morath was a quiet boy for the most part, he wanted no contact with other kids and cared little for adults, he spent a multitude of his time lookin out to the sea in deep thought. Reclusive and withdrawn, many people gave the small child a wide berth, for the temper of this little boy is enouph to rival that of a Minotar's. So the youth spent his younger years alone, and darkend by a shadow.
Then the War of the Races struck, Morath's father was sent to the Tower to help defend it against the on comming hordes that were going to be attacking it at the time. Morath and his mother gathered up their belongings and were preparing to leave. Morath, having nothing to begin with, gathered up the one thing he saw in sight he could grab. At the age of seven Morath touched his first spellbook. Gathering up his fathers spellbook he told his mother he was ready. They fled clear acrossed the Solamnic plains to the mountains. Wondering around the mountains for months they came upon a cave. There they lived like hermits for years. During these years of the war, Morath did the only thing he could think of, he looked at the spellbook. Filled with spells well beyond that of those of an apprentice, Morath understood none of them at first. Persistance and determination in the young youth paid off one day when he was able to read one of the spells. Though he did not know what it was or what it did, he put the words to memory, even if he was unable to cast it.
One morning a noise woke Morath up from a trouble sleep, looking up groggily he saw a heavily warted body standing over his mother, club raised, ready to smash down on her head. With a scream of warning, Morath tried to wake his mother in time before the ogre could dash her brains onto the ground. The scream came to late, as the club came crashing down, Morath felt a little of himself die as his mother was clubbed lifeless. Standing, the anger welling up inside of him as the ogre turned to advance upon him, the words of the spell flashed through him mind. Raising his hand, Morath recited the words of the spell, the spiderly words of magic flowing from his mouth like he had been saying them for years. An enormous Fireball sprang forth from his hands, engulfing the ogre, the heat turning his skin to ash immediatly. The last thing Morath felt before feinting was the exctasy of the magic rushing through his veins.
Waking up a week later, the spell having total exhausted not only his body but his mind, Morath took baring of his surroundings, realizing this is not how he is going to live with such power at his command. After burying his mother, Morath went in search for power, either on his own or to find someone who could teach him. So at the age of 14 Morath set out to discover his talent. Wondering for years, he could not find a Master who would take an apprentice who could already cast such a high level spells for after a few years, the book he had he had totally memorized, able to dash down some of the even middle ranked mages with his power. Without a master, and his lust for power growing within him, Morath one day found a new way to gain new spells. After a battle with a mage wearing strange colored robes, for at the time Morath had forgetten about the Order and did not know of the exhistance, he found a book on the mages body. Picking the book up he found unfamiliar spells written within it. An evil grin splitting his young face, Morath knew how he was going to gain in power if no one was willing to help.
So at the age of 17, Morath went on a spree of hunting down mages, his lust for power becomming over baring, his collection of mixed books grew large. Using his talents in the Art, Morath become a well known mercinary during the War of the Races. Not caring who he fought or for what cause, but he seldom wanted money as payment. His payment were always old tomes that were of no use to the employer, but were of great value to him. Morath spred through the country, slaughter anyone who stood in his way of power, his feeling slowly becomming dead, not caring for anything in his life but magic and the power that it brought him. He was obssessd, the elemetns were at his control, nothing stood in his way. Then one day, on a job in a that brought him back to his hometown of Kalaman, he met a lady. Her name was Maria, and for the first time since his mother died, he had feelings.
Maria was a petite shopowner in the town of Kalaman, Morath came into her shop one day and was struck by her beauty. She was short, long blond hair, fair skinned, and fragil. For the first time since his mother, Morath felt love. He courted Maria but his work prevented him from marrying her. The had a son, and named him Jordan, Morath was going to settle down, give up his quest for power and marry Maria. Then the war hit Kalaman, while Morath was fighting off the hordes at the gate, his wife and he thought his child was murderd also. Another part of Morath died that day, his heart clenching down and turning cold once agian.
So Morath reverted back to his old ways agian, slaughtering without thought till one day he met a black robed figure. Looking at the figure Morath could feel the magical energy eminating from him and knew if he fought him he would lose. Fear clutched his heart as he saw the figure aproach him, thinking death was immenent, Morath brought forth in his mind the defensive spells that would perhaps give him time to escape. But it was unneeded, the figure recognize Morath's power and introduced himself as Arimas, Master of the Conclave of Wizards. After a long talk with Arimas, Morath found out that Ariams knew his father. After a long chat Arimas invited Morath to take the Test of High Sorcery. After long debate on how this could benifit him, Morath accepted. He passed his Test wich will remain his own personal nightmare, Morath chose to done the Black Robes, a follower of evil magic his lust for power enhanced greatly.
Morath continued his quest, his heart cold and stoney till one day when he just finished a battle wich almost proved his undoing, he stumbled upon a person. Wounded and bleeding, this person helped Morath and nursed him back to health. Morath was struck with awe, no one in his entire life had helped him. Morath heart softened for this person who he found out later his name was Katsai. From then on Morath fought side by side with Katsai, no longer the lust for power had such a grip over him, he had someone that cared for him as family adn he felt the same way. Though not by blood, Katsai is Morath's brother to this day.
This sudden change of heart also brought a change in Morath's magic, soon he realized he could no longer follow the ways of Nuitari and asked the Master and Lunitari if he could look upon the red moon. Lunitari gladly accepted the young mage in and with this change, Arimas granted Morath the position of Head of the Red Robes. Morath had found his calling, as head, all the magic he ever wanted was at his fingertips, his job as head recruiter for the Order quickly swelled the Conclaves ranks, bringing in names like Nafaustu Shadowmask, Kranyus Bloodstar, and Bespian Lightstrider. Morath was content in his work and found himself opening up to people, and then once again found love, for a time at least.
Morath's love life has always been plaqued with heartbreak. After Maria's death, Morath figured he would never love again. Till one day when a petite blond white robe entered the Order. Crytal Ashe captured Morath's heart quickly, her carefree ways clashed with his stern seriousness but he loved her none the less. They were married quickly and it seems that soon after is when the trouble started. Crystal soon grew tired of Morath serious attitude and work. With his constant work he never had time for his wife. In a stunning scene that shocks Morath to this day, Crystal slit her wrists right in front of him. So he sat there and watched her die, his heart hardening once agian. And yet, Morath made the mistake after this of opening his heart to yet another woman who was wrong for him. Gypsy Shadowessence had a darkside that matched that of Morath's. They got married and adopted a daughter by the name of Ellisande Cellenti. Gypsy was a vampire, and Morath, wanting to spend eternity with her, asked her to embrace him. She gladly accepted and Morath's mortal form was abandond and became a creature of the night. His strength and agility now matched his magical power. Morath thought himself a happy man now. But yet again Morath's work interfered with his life, after much arguing and fighting, Morath called this marrage off, turning his back on the woman he thought he loved.
Morath finally did find love though in the form and a fighting spirit to match his own. Morath met Katerina Tepes after he had helped out her neice. Morath was impressed when he first saw her with the way she carried herself and her attitude. After time went by, Morath spent more and more time with Katerina, soon becoming close friends, fighting side by side with each other countless numbers of times. During this time Morath found himself falling in love with Katerina. Refusing to put another woman through the pain of loving him, he tried to stay away but his heart could not hold it back and one day after a brutal fight with Vaticus, bleeding and torn, Morath proposed to Katerina. They married shortly after and Morath had finally found the woman that he had been searching for.
After Arimas went on his journey, Morath was left with the reins of the Order. Doing his best to keep things inline, Morath led the Conclave forward, but not as firmly as his old master did. Things quickly started falling apart, due the some members knew that Morath wasnt the true master. After months of debate and with Arimas missing, the Heads decided to vote on a new Master. Morath won the vote on this important meeting, taken by only the most active members of the Conclave. After much controversy and confusion, Arimas finally stepped down, knowing full well that if he should ever return, Morath would step down. So Morath, now Master of the Conclave, continues the struggle to bring the Order once agian to its former glory.
