Moses Sexton was born 18 May 1789 in York Dist. South Carolina the third child of Timothy Sexton and Esther Sisel. Moses Joined Capt. James Tunnells Company in an Infantry Regiement Commanded by Col. Johnson Bentley Taylor on 20 September 1814 at Knoxville to serve in the war against Great Britan. He was discharged at Washington D.C.20 March 1815.
Moses married Leander Laura Hatfield about October 1814 in Fentress County Tenn. Leander Laura Hatfield was born in 1795 and died about 1860 in Fentress County Tenn. Moses took up with another woman by the name of Sarah Phillips about 1847. Moses died about 1 June 1850.
