In the trunk filled with treasures

Lying folded carefully

A dress of white now, turning yellow.

I touched it tenderly.

I felt my grandma standing near

Watching with loving eyes

I felt her presence so kind and dear

And heard her words so wise.

"Listen to me child", she said.

"For I want you to know,

what this dress of white so yellow now

meant so long ago.

We knelt beside His Holy alter

And listened reverently

While a servant of our Father

Sealed us for eternity.

And you my child will someday find

That special man to love

You'll kneel beside that alter too

And promise God above.

As your mother did before you dear

Wear this dress for me

And feel the sacredness and the love

That was always meant to be

We put it in this trunk for you

so very long ago.

We knew that you would find it here

and really want to know.

When your wedding day is over and

treasures packed away,

to this trunk return this dress of white

for your daughter to wear someday."
