~*The Snow Storm*~

Head facing into the storm
Antlers heavy to bare.
Stagger on, through the deep
snow, getting no where.

Ice so heavy on face and fur,
hooves laden with frost.
family so cold and near death
find shelter at any cost

White whirling death threatens.
Young and old struggle on.
Blizzard relentless, and fierce
blowing, blowing since dawn.

In the distance the sound of wolves.
Enemy since beginning of time.
A mate, a son, The fear so stong.
To protect he'll fall behind.

Gave his life that they might live.
Antlers lying still in the cold.
Renewal of life will go on through time.
Each new life taking strength from old.

Year after year the cold will retreat.
The snowstorm will cease,
The sun will shine once again,
And the mountains fill with peace.
