The following scriptures all have special meaning to me. My personal experience is included with those that are pertinent.
Hebrews 1:1-3 1 God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, 2 Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds; 3 Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high:
1 Corinthians 15:28-29 28 And when all things shall be subdued unto him, then shall the Son also himself be subject unto him that put all things under him, that God may be all in all. 29 Else what shall they do which are baptized for the dead, if the dead rise not at all? why are they then baptized for the dead? (This signifys that there was work being done for the dead in the early church) There is a personal story behind this scripture that has been a testimony to me for years. Many years ago when I was a young mother I was living in Ogden, Utah. A man came to my door and said that he was a servant of the Lord and as I always felt the need to be courteous to those that are not of my religion I invited him in. We were discussing different points of belief when I asked him if he believed in doing work for the dead and he said, "No there is no place in the bible that says anything about doing work for the dead." Well, although I was very unfamiliar with the bible I said, "Yes there is, I don't know where, but I do know that it is in there." I don't even know why I said this as I had no idea that this was true, in fact at this time I didn't even own a bible. But to go on with the story, about two weeks later I was visiting my sister and for some reason I picked up her bible and just opened it up and started reading the page where I had opened it to. There in front of my eyes was the above scripture. As I read this my heart swelled and I knew beyond a doubt that this was true and that I had confirmation of what I had told the man earlier.
1 Corinthians 40-42 There are also celestial bodies, and bodies terrestrial but the glory of the celestial is one, and the glory of the terrestrial is another. 41 There is one glory o of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars; for as one star differeth from another star in glory. 42 So also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown in corruption; it is raised in incorruption.
Acts 17:28-29 28 For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, for we are also his offspring. 29 Forasmuch then as we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Godhead is like unto gold, or silver, or stone, graven by art and man's device.
John 17:3 3 And this is life eternal that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom thou hast sent. (question: Can someone send themselves? There are two personages here-God the Father and His Son Jesus Christ) John 16:28 28 I came forth from the Father, and am come into the world: again, I leave the world and go to the Father. John 6:38 38 For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me.
John 15:12 12 This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you. John 7:24 24 Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment.
Micah 4:1-2 1 But in the last days it shall come to pass, that the mountain of the house of the Lord shall be established in the top of the mountains, and it shall be exalted above the hills; and people shall flow unto it. 2 And many nations shall come, and say, Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, and to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths; for the law shall go forth of Zion, and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem. (The house of the Lord has been established in the tops of the mountains)
Amos 4:7 7 Surely the Lord God will do nothing, but but first he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets. (Who does he reveal his will to today?) Ezekiel 37:16-20 (Stick of Judah: Bible the Stick of Joseph: Book of Mormon) 16 Moreover, thou son of man, take thee one stick, and write upon it, for Judah, and for the children of Israel his companions: then take another stick and write upon it, For Joseph the stick of Ephraim, and for all the house of Israel his companions. 17 And join them one to another into one stick; and they shall become one in thine hand. 18 And when the children of thy people shall speak unto thee, saying, Wilt thou not shew us what thou meanest by these? 19 Say unto them, Thus saith the Lord God; behold, I will take the stick of Joseph, which is in the hand of Ephraim, and the tribes of Israel his fellows, and will put them with him, even with the stick of Judah, and make them one stick and they shall be one in mine hand. 20 And the sticks whereon thou writest shall be in thine hand before their eyes.
Jeremiah 31:6-14 6 For there shall be a day that the watchmen upon the mount Ephraim shall cry arise ye, and let us go up to Zion unto the Lord our God. 7 For thus saith the Lord; Sing with gladness for Jacob and shout among the chief of the nations; publish ye, praise ye, and say, O Lord, save thy people, the remnant of Israel. 8 Behold, I will bring the from the north country, and gather them from the coasts of the earth, and with them the blind and the lame, the woman with child and her that travaileth with child together; a great company shall return thither. 9 they shall come with weeping, and with supplications will I lead them; I will cause them to walk by the rivers of water in straight way, wherein they shall not stumble; for I am a father to Israel, and Ephraim is my firstborn. 10 Hear the word of the Lord, O ye nations, and declare it in the isles afar off, and say He that scattered Israel will gather him, and keep him, as a shepherd doth his flock. 11 For the Lord hath redeemed Jacob, and ransomed him from the hand of him that was stronger than he. 12 Therefore they shall come and sing in the height of Zion and shall flow together to the goodness of the Lord, for wheat, and for wine, and for oil, and for the young of the flock and of the herd; and their soul shall be as a watered garden; and they shall not sorrow any more at all. 13 Then shall the virgin rejoice in the dance, both young men and old together; for I will turn their mournings into joy, and will comfort them and make them rejoice from their sorrow. 14 And I will satiate the soul of the priests with fatness, and my people shall be satisfied with my goodness, saith the Lord (This describes the events during the migration of the Saints in the early days of the Church) ( other Scriptures on the gathering of Israel in the latter days: Jeremiah 16: 13-21, Jeremiah 23:3-8)
Jeremiah 1:5 5 Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee, and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee; and before thou came forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations. (How could God have known, and ordained him before he was born if we did not live with him before we came to earth. (Pre-existence) He did know each of us for we were his offspring in the spirit. Ecclesiastes 11:7 7 Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was; and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it. (How can anything RETURN to anything if it hadn't been their first?) John: 11:34-35 34 Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods? 35 If he called them gods, unto whom the word of God came, and the scripture cannot be broken; Psalm 82:6 6 I have said, Ye are gods: and all of you are children of the most High. Job 38:7 7 When the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for Joy?
1 Nephi 3:7 7 And it came to pass that I, Nephi said unto my father: I will go and do the things which the Lord hath commanded, for I know that the Lord giveth no commandments unto the children of men, save he shall prepare a way for them that they may accomplish the thing which he commandeth them. 2Nephi 2:24-25 24 But behold, all things have been done in the wisdom of him who knoweth all things. 25 Adam fell that men might be; and men are that they might have joy Doctrine and Covenants 121: 7-8 7 My son, peace be unto thy soul; thine adversity and thine afflictions shall be but a small moment; 8 And then, if thou endure it well, God shall exalt thee on high; thou shalt triumph over all thy foes. Doctrine and Covenants 121: 33-37 33 How long can rolling waters remain impure? What power shall stay the heavens? As well might man stretch forth his puny arm to stop the Missouri river in its decreed course, or to turn it up stream, as to hinder the Almighty from pouring down knowledge from heaven upon the heads of the Latter-day Saints. 34 Behold, there are many called but few are chosen. And why are they not chosen? 35 Because their hearts are set so much upon the things of this world and aspire to the honors of men, that they do not learn this one lesson-- 36 That the rights of the priesthood are inseparably connected with the powers of heaven, and that the powers of heaven cannot be controlled nor handled only upon the principles of righteousness. "BY THEIR FRUITS SHALL YE KNOW THEM"
I love the scriptures and these are only a very few of those that have influenced my life and brought me to a knowledge of the truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and His Church. But because the space is limited so also is the number of scriptures that can be written on it.
