~* NO TIME*~

I knelt to pray but not for long,

had too much to do.

I had to hurry and get to work,

For bills would soon be due.

So I knelt and said a hurried prayer,

And jumped up off my knees.

My Christian duty was now done

My soul could rest at ease.

All day long I had no time

To spread a word of cheer

No time to speak o fChrist to friends,

They'd laugh at me I'd fear

No time, no time, too much to do,

That was my constant cry,

No time to give to souls in need

But at last the time, the time to die.

I went before the Lord,

I came, I stood with downcast eyes.

For in his hands God held a book;

It was the book of life.

God looked into his book and said

"Your name I cannot find.

I once was going to write it down...

But never found the time"

~*INVICTUS*~

Out of the night that covers me,

Black as the pit from pole to pole,

I thank what ever gods may be

For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance,

I have not winced nor cried aloud.

Under the bludgeionings of chance

My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears

looms but the horror of the shade,

and yet the menace of the years

finds, and shall find, me unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,

How charred with punishments the scroll,

I am the Master of my Fate;

I am the Captain of my Soul.

(THE ANSWER)

THE SOUL'S CAPTAIN

Art thou in truth?  Then what of Him

who bought thee with His blood?

who plunged into devouring seas

and snatched thee from the flood?

Who bore for all our fallen race

what none but him could bear

The God who died that man might live,

and endless glory share?

Of what avail they vaunted strength,

apart from His vast might?

Pray that His light may pierce the gloom,

that thou mayest see aright.

Men are as bubbles on the wave,

As leaves upon the tree.

Thou, Captain of thy soul, forsooth!

Who gave that place to thee?

Free will is thine, Free agency,

To wield for right or wrong.

But thou must answer unto Him

to whom all souls belong.

Bend to the dust that head unbowed

small part of life's great whole!

And see in Him, and Him alone,

The Captain of thy Soul.

NO MAN IS AN ISLAND

No man is an island,

No man stands alone.

Each man's joy is joy to me

Each man's grief is my own.

We need one another,

so I will defend

each man as my brother.

Each man as my friend.

I saw the people gather,

I heard the music start.

The song that they were singing

is ringing in my heart.

NO man is an Island,

no man stands alone.

Each man's joy is joy to me,

each man's grief is my own.

We need one another,

so I will defend

each man as my brother,

Each man as my friend

Just some thoughts I thought might be inspiring...
