Pod People

Canberra Has long held a reputation as the home of cutting edge heavey music. ARMOURED ANGEL, ALCHEMIST and the annual METAL FOR THE BRAIN event has made the A.C.T. a Mecca for the extreme. Crawling out of the dark and bleak Canberra winter nine years ago, POD PEOPLE have evolved, or rather, mutated into one of the countries leading exponents of sluge-driven, stoner doom.

The five peice solidified it's line up after a a self-titled EP and a succession of line up changes threatened to send the band the way of the dinosaur. Instead Pod buckeled down and wrote the songs heavy enough to be compared to their pre-history reptilian precusors - Lunbering giant slabs of beef that culminated in the band going down to Backbeach studios in November 1997 and recording the reformed Pod's much touted EP - Swingin' Beef.

Five tracks of heavy doom put the band on a path that lead to a host of great supports. CATHEDRAL and BRUTAL TRUTH have asked the band to support them on consecutive tours of Australia and the band also played with ENTOMBED on their recent Australian tour. Further to larger shows, the band played interstate with such diverse Australian heavy peddlers as ALCHEMIST, BLOOD DUSTER, DERN RUTLIDGE, SUPERHEIST and the premier heave event in the country - METAL FOR THE BRAIN.

The future looks bright for these five sludger masters who have an ever increasing schedule of shows and have jsut signed the contract to perform on the main stage at METAL FOR THE BRAIN 9. Further the band have a song featured on the upcoming independent US film I Am Vengence - touted as being "The goriest film ever made", this can onld be a good thing!
