Stellar

From a crescent moon
I hang suspended,
impaled by stars and
pinioned soft against night's curtain.
With gentle pace
I stroke the sky and trace
the shadow of you,
remembrances held in fingertips
to surface black upon night
and seep through wounds
made flesh with loving touch.
The night is hushed
while forevers rest silent
in echoed yesterdays,
and starlight bleeds through
me once filled by you.
Spattering the heavens celestial,
wish I may-wish I might longings
herald a time and place
where darkness cloaked serene
and love soothed lashes to slumber.
The night draws close
embroidered with memories,
silken threads woven into fantasies.
conjured myths and purged vows
sung through my verse.
Specters tear the false moon
as darkness bends to caress my cheek
and like a spirit steals my soul,
fingering soft with wordful lies,
impassioned whispers now damned
to hushed scribbles in prose and rhyme.
That I love you...there is no doubt
but words alone fail to make you mine
for dust of them is graven in my palm
and slips through spaces which once held you.
My ghosts are here entrapped,
to ride the moonstalked night
while haunting shadows
touch me real yet sleep me gentle.
Lost in thoughts of you...
I close my eyes and inhale the night.
