Dear Student:

Participating in the Christian Karate Association is a wonderful opportunity for you to develop total fitness. In my classes I teach and encourage the development of the whole person. You will learn personal discipline, acquire excellent physical conditioning, learn biblical principles that apply to your life, develop self-defense skills, gain self-confidence and have fun while working toward the coveted Black Belt!

In only a short time you will begin to experience some amazing positive changes in your life. Congratulations on making the decision to do something for yourself today.

I look forward to teaching you,

Sensei Steve Wilson

As students you will have several responsibilities. These responsibilities will help you to be able to focus on your karate training and will help the school have adequate time to focus on you as a student.

  1. Please respect the space we are using and keep it clean. Please pick up after yourself.
  2. Come to class prepared to learn and prepared to be challenged.

WHAT TO EXPECT
Welcome to the Christian Karate Association. We hope you have an enjoyable learning experience with us. This is a new school here in the Post Falls area. The association has taught in Washington state and Virginia over the last seven years. A new school means new leadership and growth.

Please be patient with us as we work on developing our entire program. Our children's director is doing an excellent job, and our kid's program is flourishing! The 4:30 and 6:00 classes on Monday and Wednesday are for beginning students and they are a chance for the leaders at the school to learn how to run a class, they are in a student teaching situation. Please feel free to give us your opinions and suggestions at anytime so we can achieve the goal of having a great school.

Here at the Christian Karate Association we strive to develop the whole person physically, mentally and spiritually. This is accomplished through karate training that is demanding physically and yet challenges your mind by requiring you to attempt moves and positions your body has never tried before.

As you begin class stretches and technique will feel awkward but this is normal and may take up to three months before you feel more comfortable. Expect to be sore for the next couple of days. As you continue coming to classes, please be patient as all the material you need to know will be covered. The school is on a five week rotation schedule. So within 5 weeks you will have touched on all the different components of Karate such as technique, sparring and application.

Every class is a little different according to the amount of students, and the varying levels of learning. In one class you may receive one on one with the Sensei, and the next class take part as a group with white belts and green belts in the same area. Expect variation. This variation keeps learning exciting, gives other students chances to teach and incorporates various ways that students learn.

So don't give up, keep working and you will learn karate, get your body in shape physically and grow in your life spiritually through character qualities, Bible reading, and fellowship with other believers in a Christian environment.

We are currently reworking our leadership program in the hope of providing more one on one learning within class. Please be patient as these changes will take effect slowly.

What Now?

All you need to do is show up to class.  It would be good to show up about 15-20 minutes your first time so you can meet the instructors and get a feel for the program.  You do not have to have a karate uniform (Gi) at this time.  You can purchase one later if you like.  It is recommended that you wear something that is comfortable and loose fitting.  Sweets and a t-shirt work great.

Hope to see you there.
