The Unofficial Jedi's Guide to the YJCCG Galaxy is THE card strategy reference for Decipher's Young Jedi CCG. Starting with the first expansion, 'The Menace of Darth Maul', each individual card will be discussed until it can be discussed no further. Nevertheless, if I have missed something, email me at jinnandtonic@yahoo.com.au, and I will update it accordingly.

Well, seeing that The Negotiations Were Short and Opee Sea Killer are practically identical...here is a combined entry. So unless I say so specifically, when I refer to The Negotiations Were Short, I mean Opee Sea Killer as well.

jinnandtonic's Grades:

Economy: A+
Enough said, really. The Negotiations Were Short is the Blaster Rifle of the Battle cards, the most economical card in the game. Think about it: this and the trusty Blaster Rifle are the only two cards that you can include multiples of in any deck you build with some degree of success. It gives any character who is the first in a Battle plan (as if you don't know this!) a bonus of Power +3. It also has a not-too-shabby Destiny of 4, which while it could be higher, is about as high as it can possible be without making it the only Battle card you use. Amazingly economical.

Decipher: B+ (D for Opee Sea Killer)
This category is a bit tough. Firstly let's just say that The Negotiations Were Short is a powerful card. We all know this. But is it too powerful? Well....maybe. But it is not powerful enough to make me really whine about it. And it is not powerful enough to be issued errata by Decipher, which says something. It is the Alter/Sense of YJCCG. Okay. Now individually. The idea and image of The Negotiations Were Short are pretty good. It doesn't *quite* work in terms of the idea, but hey: it works for me. As for Opee Sea Killer, well I'm afraid the idea is ridiculous. Come on, you are in the middle of Tatooine, and your Battle Droid summons an Opee Sea Killer to do your bidding??? It is a bit confused, really, and not quite good enough. Bah.

Overall Usefulness: A+
Usefulness? Hah! If you do not include either The Negotiations Were Short or Opee Sea Killer in your deck, you are probably losing something. As I have mentioned many times before, you need to include multiples of The Negotiations Were Short just in order to counter your opponent's copies of Opee Sea Killer, that he/she is bound to include unless he/she is senile. It is the whole Alter and Sense SWCCG thing, transferred to YJCCG. No other Battle card can be used in any situation you find yourself in: all you need is a character in play and you are laughing. Even more useful than a paperweight if your office is on back of a flatbed truck.

COMMON, YELLOW-DOT, BATTLE CARD

Destiny: 4

Game Text:
ooo Use with the first character in your battle plan.

Flavor Text: (The Negotiations Were Short) "Offhand, I'd say this mission is past the negotiation stage." --- Obi-Wan Kenobi

SPECIFIC INTERACTING CARDS:
------------------------------------------------

All you need is a single character in play. That *shouldn't* be too hard, even if you have never read the YJCCG instructions.

IN BRIEF:
-------------------

I am fast running out of superlatives when it come to this card. In basically every deck idea I have alluded to in the Unofficial Jedi's Guide to the YJCCG Galaxy, multiple copies of The Negotiations Were Short have featured. It doesn't matter what theme you are using. You need multiples of this card in your deck. You NEED them. It will be interesting to see if Decipher dream up similarly all-powerful Common cards for future expansions, and if they are as Powerful as The Negotiations Were Short. Who wants to bet that The Negotiations Were Short/Opee Sea Killer will feature prolifically in decks even after the third and final expansion is released? I would.

-------------------------------
GENERAL PLAY TIPS:
-------------------------------

*In your average themed deck, 4+ copies of The Negotiations Were Short/Opee Sea Killer are probably a given. You could even go for 10 copies: probably in any deck!

Specifically The Negotiations Were Short is, along with I Have A Bad Feeling About This, the Battle card of choice for an Obi-Wan themed deck. You would also want to include multiples of Obi-Wan Kenobi, Young Jedi (and the Jedi Padawan, if necessary), Obi-Wan Kenobi's Lightsaber and maybe Anakin Skywalker, Podracer Pilot. As for the Opee Sea Killer, you are on your own. More seafood-flavored cards to come from Decipher? Probably.

ADDITIONS:

Up to you. Think of anything else cool about his card, or combos that you have used to great effect? What about a particular game in which this card made you win? Send anything like that to jinnandtonic@yahoo.com.au and I'll add it here. The negotiations *were* short. Ewan Macgregor was smirking like a loon when he said that. Not *funny*, but cool nevertheless.
